"Cody came out and did a fantastic job. Installed an attic fan and ran electric to a shed away from the house and ran electric around a patio outside. Cody is knowledgeable and does a great job. He even took extra time at the end to clean up more than I expected, I didn’t have to do a thing, and I’m always prepared to do a little clean up at the end. His prices are very fair, he is honest and hard working. Would highly recommend to anyone that needs electrical work done."

"It was nice working with Stonehouse Electric. It was a pretty big project as the entire house needed rewired. Being able to hit the "easy button" and have them come in and do everything took a lot off of my plate. On bigger projects, it is easy to have misunderstandings or changes along the way. Whenever this did happen, they were quick to step in and fix things and make it right at every turn. I would definitely do business with them again."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical work in New Castle can temporarily impact systems like HVAC, sump pumps, or security alarms, since these often share circuits or require dedicated wiring. Rewiring may involve accessing walls, attics, or basements, which could disturb insulation or stored items. Before starting a project, discuss your home’s layout and interconnected systems with your electrical contractor to minimize disruptions and ensure everything functions properly afterward.

Helpful?

In New Castle, older homes often have outdated electrical panels or wiring, such as knob-and-tube or aluminum, which can pose safety risks. Kitchens and bathrooms may need upgraded GFCI outlets for added protection. Basements are prone to moisture, increasing the chance of wiring issues. Exterior outlets and lighting can deteriorate from freeze-thaw cycles, so regular checks by an electrical contractor are recommended.

Helpful?

Upgrading your home wiring in New Castle provides immediate safety improvements and supports modern appliances. In the long term, electrical upgrades can boost property value, improve energy efficiency, and lower the risk of electrical fires. Enhanced electrical systems also prepare your home for future needs, like electric vehicle charging or smart home devices, and may help you qualify for better insurance rates.

Helpful?

If your New Castle home has frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or two-prong outlets, it likely needs electrical upgrades. Homes built before 1980 or those with fuse boxes or knob-and-tube wiring are especially at risk. Signs of moisture in the basement or outdated electrical panels also indicate it’s time to consult an electrical contractor for a thorough safety assessment.

Helpful?

Electrical systems in New Castle benefit from seasonal inspections, especially after harsh winters. Test GFCI outlets monthly, particularly in damp areas like basements. Schedule a licensed electrician to inspect your electrical panel every few years for corrosion or loose connections. Keep outdoor wiring clear of debris, and maintain surge protectors and backup generators to ensure your home wiring stays safe and reliable year-round.
