"Builders responded rapidly to come to house to provide estimate which seamed fair and indeed was within just a few dollars estimated by the insurance company who was also involved since damage the result of a storm. Came and did work 2 days after estimate submitted with quality work and service in timely matter which was essential as the damaged stone wall was a retaining wall and not just ornamental so worried about possible rapid erosion around the downed part of the wall if left too long before repair completed,"

It’s called cobblestone because it’s made of stones that are “cobbed” together. A cob is a term that refers to rounded lumps. Originally, cobblestone streets were made from pebbles and stones gathered from riverbeds that had been rounded over time by the passage of water. The term has nothing to do with a cobbler, which is the term for someone who makes and fixes shoes.

You can use a regular drill to make pilot holes for gutter brackets in the wooden fascia board around the top of your house, but it’s not the best tool for brick. Instead, you’ll need a heavy-duty power tool like a hammer drill with a carbide tip bit.

Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

You’ll first scrub and sand the chimney; then, you can patch any gaps with caulk and apply the sealant.
