"I reached out Carmelos landscape 2 days ago. They responded via email within 30 minutes. They asked for my address and then sent me an estimate which is more than fair. They then sent me a confirmation and that a team would be out within 2 days. They were out the next day. I was not home but they proceeded to perform the work even though i had not paid yet. When i got home i was Extremely impressed with the way the lawn looked especially since it was overgrown and in bad shape. The team took great care of my property and cleaned up. When completed they called me and i offered to drop off a check but they said no worries and that i could pay online which was soooo convenient. Carmelos is professional , trusting, ontime and just plain nice. I moved to the area and i will be using them for the summer and in the winter they will be doing snow removal. I have dealt with alot of landscapers over the years and these guys are Top notch!! I Definitely recommend Carmelos Landscaping"

"ZJs was so accommodating to assist with our landscaping spring cleanup. They trimmed out bushes, pulled out unwanted plants, edged perfectly and added some nice finishing touches to the project. "I called The Driveway Lady to get a quote and ideas on how to solve a difficult problem with my concrete porch. My home was built in the late 1800s and has a large raised concrete wrap around porch surrounded by beautiful stone walls. Replacement would be prohibitive, but there were some substantial cracks and pitting. It was like walking on an ocean reef, it was so rough, and the repairs made to the cracks wouldn’t hold, but Jean determined that it was otherwise secure with no water penetration below. She suggested they repair the cracks with hydraulic cement and then coat the entire surface with Miracote to seal both the cracks and smooth the surface and protect from future pitting. They worked with me to get the color right when I didn’t like the initial application.  Jean stands by her work and does an outstanding job. The people she has working for her are also courteous, pleasant and easy to work with. I can’t recommend her and her team enough."

Customers say: Quality work

"BetterWay Excavating gave me the lowest price of the three estimates I got on excavating, grading, and power raking my 7000 sq ft back yard (I am doing the grass seeding myself). They arrived early, completed the work in a day and a half, and did a great job. I fully recommend them."

"We appreciate the hard work Mike did in completing our project. Responsible, timely, and professional all describe our experience. He completed it quickly, negotiating Mother Nature's unpredictable October weather. He responded to our inquiry-which some of the others did not even acknowledge. He provided a quote within budget and completed within a week. Highly recommended!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

There are two main times of year to apply mulch: mid to late spring and late fall. Spreading mulch in mid to late spring helps protect new seedlings as the soil warms up. It's best to wait until temperatures are steady, as mulching too early in the spring can slow down the soil's warming process and hinder plant growth. Fall mulching is also beneficial, as it insulates the soil and helps regulate its temperature when the first frosts arrive.

Landscaping prices are sometimes negotiable, but it depends on the professional with whom you’re working. In most cases, you’ll have a better chance of negotiating prices down the more work you have done. Your pro might be willing to discount labor if they’re guaranteed a large job. You can also ask your landscaper to recommend more affordable materials that will still bring your vision to life to save.

Most bamboo can send roots down two to three feet into the ground. However, when stopping bamboo from spreading, the focus is on the runner roots or rhizomes. These roots are much shallower, staying 12 inches or less from the surface, so they’re easier to find and remove. But if you want to remove the bamboo entirely, you’ll have to dig out the full root system.

DIY landscaping is possible, but professional services offer expertise in selecting appropriate plants and designing functional spaces that complement the natural environment and adhere to local regulations.

A scattering of leaves won’t pose a problem through the winter, but a thicker layer of leaves may not decompose before the first frost and can instead weigh down your grass and harbor mold or fungi. A thick layer of leaves also cuts off light and air that grass needs to grow. That’s why we suggest removing thick leaf layers within several days if possible. If your lawn goes dormant over the winter and snow has already caught up with you, then remove the leaves in early spring before your grass-growing season starts so your lawn can thrive.
