"This was an urgent matter with no heat and the temperature inside the home dropping. I contacted this company, told Joe the situation, and he came the same day. Joe was very understanding, professional and saw the urgency. The furnace was old and needed a conversion unit installed to avoid having me to pay for a costly new furnace. He contacted the parts supplier, who needed to have the unit shipped to them the next morning. In the meantime Joe suggested an alternative heat source that I borrowed from my neighbor. The next morning (Christmas Eve) Joe was on his way and completed the conversion replacement to restore the heat. Thanks to Joe the heat has been working great and done at a fair price!"
"The install of the new a/c was replacing what was originally there. Wanted a a/c with a heat pump so that I could use that for heating. They also installed a nest thermostat to work with it. The removal of the old system & the new installation was done like it was for their own home. Worked long hours till the job was completely done. The owner & his two workers were extremely friendly"
"I ultimately did not go through with the project but wayne was clearly the most responsive, knowledgeable and helpful. I would use him in the future."
"The job was delayed by due to abnormally cold weather, however once the work was started it was completed in a professional and timely manner. For example: the unit was being installed in a garage/workshop. When asked my opinion on some duct work that had been installed, I replied that it looked real good and added why be so picky since it was in a garage. The answer was that the job would be done right and they took pride in their work. Excellent answer! I was extremely impressed with the clean up on completion. I would highly recommend Keith to anyone considering HVAC work and are looking for a professional that takes pride in his work."
"I needed an expansion tank put on my water line. Mike was quick to respond to and didnt make me feel pressured and wasn't trying to rip me off. He came by and looked, went got the parts and installed the expansion tank. The entire process was very smooth and not painful and most of all quick! Thank you so much!"
"This is my second review of this company. Just like my first experience with Pocono Mountain Plumbing, Bob definitely came through for us again. We needed an emergency call when we discovered we had no water on the morning of 7/16/14. One call to Bob and I was assured that even though he was in the middle of a big job, he would make sure he got to us before the end of the day so that we could have water. Good to his word, he and his assistant showed up around 4:00 PM and informed me that since he had done the work on our new well pump 2 1/2 years ago, he was going to stand behind the work he had done. We did have a one year warranty, but Bob being Bob didn't think that was fair,so he offered to take responsibility for anything that involved his work. You heard me, HE WAS WILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS WORK. Bob and Ronnie found the problem right away, discovering that some of the wires had become frayed, but they didn't stop there. Bob decided to pull the entire length of tubing and wiring in our well to make sure there were no other problems. No big deal right? Our well is 400 ft plus and they pulled out every inch checking for damage the whole way. Bob also decided to sanitize our well while he was here. Just another little perk that this man thinks about when he is working for you. Just as Bob and Ronnie was putting everything back in place, a hissing sound was detected. Yup, sure enough there was a tiny little hole in the brass fitting that couples with the underground piping back to the house. Ironically, this was the exact kind of job Bob was doing earlier in the day, requiring a backhoe for the repair. I guess Bob saw the look on my face and realized we just weren't prepared for that kind of expense. (We are retired and on a fixed income) He told me not to worry that he would be able to do something that would give us a temporary fix. He couldn't guarantee how long it would work, but he knew we would have enough time to manage our budget enabling us to be able to afford the permanent repair. As he said, "it might work for six weeks or six months, but for now you're good to go" I don't know many contractors who would put the needs of their customers before their own best interest, but Bob is just that kind of person and business man. The total bill for the work, they were here for 2 1/2 hours, was $655, BUT Bob gave us a $200 discount. This, I know, was done out of compassion for our situation at the moment. Again, if you know a better businessman, a more professional businessman and more compassionate businessman, then call him when you need a plumber, But if you don't know a plumber like that, and I doubt that you do, call Bob. You will never regret it. Thanks, Bob. You know we are your loyal customers for life. "
"Our technician Earl was very knowledgeable. When he came back to install our 80 gallon, commercial, "Bradford White" hot water heater Norbert and another younger technician were very helpful in removing the old tank with no mess at all and taking the tank away. All 3 worked very well together to complete the install. The total time to uninstall the old and install the new was only 2 1/2 hours. Thanks to all 3 technicians, you did a GREAT job!"
"Well done job. Communications with the owner Bill went very well, the install appeared to go smoothly, price was reasonable. Their staff has lots of experience. Healthy Home was recommended to us by another HVAC contractor for this type of work. We would definitely use Healthy Home for future HVAC needs. "
You can save money on heating oil through a combination of improving home efficiency and smart purchasing strategies.
Home Efficiency and Usage:
Improve Insulation: Ensure your home, especially the basement and attic, is well-insulated and sealed against drafts to prevent heat leakage.
Manage Your Thermostat: Use a properly calibrated and programmable thermostat. Lower the temperature by a few degrees, particularly when you are away from home or asleep.
Purchasing Strategies:
Buy in the Off-Season: Order heating oil during the summer months when prices are generally at their lowest. This strategy is most effective if you have a large primary tank or a separate storage tank to accommodate bulk deliveries.
Consider a Delivery Contract: Some companies offer contracts with a set price for the term. This can lead to savings if market prices for oil increase, but you might pay more if prices drop.
Propane is more cost-efficient than natural gas on a per-unit basis because it produces twice as much heat energy as an equivalent amount of natural gas. But propane is not ideal if you already have a gas line installed. The best choice for your home depends on the efficiency of your appliances and the amount of installation required of your fuel choice.
On average, you’ll need about two gallons of oil per day to heat your house when it’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Most oil tank capacity is about 275 gallons, and heating your house with two gallons of oil per day will last about four and a half months. This consumption will vary depending on the climate and average temperature in your location. For example, if the winters are longer and colder where you live, you’ll probably need to refill your oil tank at least once to get through the winter.
Boilers provide even heating, energy efficiency, and a quiet operation compared to forced air systems.
Yes, you can build a sunroom addition to your home despite living in a cold climate. Make sure to use high-quality insulation and windows and to supplement with sufficient heating from your HVAC system. The windows in the sunroom allow enough natural light into the room to help heat it most times without having to use the furnace. Even a small electric fireplace can heat the sunroom well enough.
