I’m Bob The Handyman, I am a graduate from Johnson College with a degree in carpentry and cabinetmaking. I have worked in the home construction field since 1977. Initially, it was a part-time pace while working for UPS. Upon retiring, I began working as a handyman full-time. I know many different applications in home construction; and will be up front with customers if I can't do certain jobs. I always try to do my best, and promise not to cut corners or use cheap materials to get the job completed. I want every homeowner that I work with to be satisfied and happy with the job I complete! License # PA014304.

"I had completed most of the install and could not get the doors perfect. Bob came and quickly corrected the problem AND shared his knowledge. He further advised/taught me on how to properly insulate and finish the project. Very helpful, caring and kind."

"job was done in a timely manner, however was not done in a professional workman like manner, Which the contract states it would be done. When the estimator came he explained what would be done to eliminate water issue. When we asked how does water get removed outside and how they would undermine stairs and walls he simple stated the installers will go over that with you when they come. The installers said they would be channeling under the step and walls, which are only 2 1/2 inch walls. The last step was also a simple channel as well. More time consuming perhaps, when you charge $3000.00 more than another contractor, homeowners are believing they are getting a professional job! They cut her stair runner instead of peeling it back so it could be glued back down. she needs replace whole runner now and company could care less including there estimator! sheetrock replacement also more expensive because took a hammer to the walls instead of saw zall, nice straight lines! also have photos."

We do mold inspection, testing, and remediation work. We utilize the best technology available today, such as Structural Pasteurization, the technique of bringing the structures core temperature up to kill the desired biological. Structural pasteurization eliminates mold behind walls and in ceilings without the expense of removal and replacement, save thousands of dollars and eliminate the hassle of rebuilding! Kills dust mites, bedbugs, and some bacteria and viruses. Additional address - 1376 Rte 9-G, Hyde Park, NY 12538.

"Mold remediation was OK, but -- their guarantee using "Calbrite" is misleading. It only applies if humidity levels are kept below 60% humidity, which is the minimum humidity level for mold to grow. Their installation of a whole house dehumifier as a complete disaster. I'm left with an $1800 dehumidifier that doesnt work. It leaks water on the floor. They also installed blowin-in insulation, which resulted in areas of the attic which are now unusable. I was not informed that ceiling fixtures needed to be isolated from the insulation, and that cat-walks needed to be installed to have access to areas of the attic that needed maintenance, such as a/c system, etc. I do not recommend Expediant."

Easy Energy USA believes that buildings can and should be made safe, comfortable, durable, and energy-efficient. Putting building performance into practice requires a whole-house perspective. As RESNET certified HERS Raters and BPI accredited contractors, we measure, calculate, and analyze a building to determine the way your particular structure works and operates in order to recommend the best way to improve it without off-setting the balance of how it affects you. Ask an insulation contractor, an HVAC/R contractor, and a window salesperson the best way to lower energy bills and stop cold drafts, and you may get three different answers. As a building performance contractor, we take a whole-house perspective to assess the problem's causes and propose the most effective solution. Understanding the "house as a system" also allows us to solve problems like back-drafting that arise from interactions between the building's shell and mechanical systems. As Certified Building Scientists, we use a diagnostic approach to problem solving. Experience and observation, coupled with pressure diagnostics, infrared imaging, and combustion analysis, allow us to diagnose and correct the most challenging building performance problems. The difference between an average house and a high-performance house often comes down to a contractor's willingness to "sweat the small stuff" that the customer never sees, like air sealing, insulation, and ductwork. In an average house, a mouse or spider isn't unusual; in the high-performance house, it is. We sweat the small stuff so you don't have to. The core concept is an emphasis on measurable results from performance testing. Performance testing also assures the customer that they have a safe, comfortable, durable, and efficient building when the work is completed.

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, basement insulation needs a vapor barrier due to its susceptibility to moisture seeping in from the outside of the house. You should install a moisture barrier before you install insulation or purchase insulation that comes prebuilt with a moisture barrier to avoid water damage in your insulation and costly mold and water remediation expenses.

One of the biggest disadvantages of glass garage doors is that they are not the best at insulating your garage. In the summer, heat can enter through the glass, while in the winter, heat can escape through the glass, increasing your electricity and gas bills as you crank up your HVAC unit. You can help mitigate the poorer insulation by investing in insulated glass and insulating your garage.

Interior walls don't require insulation. However, there are a couple of reasons you may consider adding it in some situations. Insulation in interior walls is excellent for sound-dampening between rooms and can help maintain a regulated temperature in insulated rooms by lowering the heat transfer between adjacent areas of the home.

Periodic checks for moisture or pest issues ensure consistent performance.

Mold can grow on garage ceiling insulation, which is why it’s important to install a vapor barrier behind the insulation and keep the space cooled and heated as you would your living area. Doing so will more or less eliminate the risk of mold growing on your garage ceiling insulation. You can also install a self-draining dehumidifier to help remove moisture, or opt for a foam board insulation or spray foam insulation that won’t harbor moisture and mold.
