"We have been using Newtown Termite & Pest Control Inc services for about 2 years. Our experiences have been positive and they have always followed up as needed. The techs are knowledgable and office personnel are professional. Our service today was attended by Jon who is a subject matter expert in wildlife behavior. He is professional and confident with information regarding rodent and bat behaviors. We discussed next steps. I look forward to getting the potential problem areas fixed."

"Highly recommend! Great customer service and reasonable costs. I am a new homeowner and didn t know much about pest control. So when I moved into a wooded area, we had a ton of big spiders around our front door and throughout the house. I looked up What s Bugging You on Home Advisor and received a call and a quote very quickly - we were able to schedule an appt right away. The service works very well - we have little to no spiders or bugs, or they are dead if I do see them. Stephen is very knowledgeable and provides great customer service. We have regular appts but if I need additional service, he makes time right away. For the summer, we added on the flea, tick and mosquito service - also because we just got a puppy. Overall, a great value and makes me feel more comfortable in my home."

"Western Pest contacted me immediately after I made my inquiry on Homeadvisor which told me that they wanted my business. Daniel contacted me & came out within 24 hours to assess the situation with the wasp nest that hung outside my 2nd floor bedroom window & provide me with an estimate. Compared to other companies, Western offered the best quote. The technician came on time as scheduled, treated & removed the nest, & came back the next morning as promised to clear any remaining fragments. I will definitely be using Western Pest again if needed!"

Small jobs welcome

"I couldn't be happier with my experience with MosquitoNix Philadelphia! They installed a mosquito misting system in my backyard, and the difference has been incredible. I can finally relax and enjoy my outdoor seating area without constantly worrying about mosquito and bug bites. The installation was professional, the team was friendly and knowledgeable, and the system works exactly as promised. It's completely transformed the way my family and I enjoy our backyard. I highly recommend MosquitoNix Philadelphia to anyone looking for an effective solution to mosquitoes and other annoying bugs. Thank you for the outstanding service!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Bed bugs do not always go away after one treatment. A small case may be a one-and-done deal, but many infestations need about two to four visits within about six weeks to fully eradicate the pests in your home. It’s critical to stick to your treatment plan to ensure any existing eggs don’t hatch and create a new infestation.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, pyrethrins and pyrethroids are the most common chemical compounds used to get rid of bed bugs. These chemicals force bed bugs out of their hiding spots and kill them on the spot so they are eliminated for good. Only professional exterminators can apply these treatments, and they are reserved for severe infestations.

No, water bugs are not big roaches. Water bugs and cockroaches are different insects entirely, belonging to different orders. They are often confused for one another because they are similar in appearance, but water bugs and cockroaches have close-up differences in how they look, plus they behave and feed in very different ways.

Make it easier for your inspector to do a thorough assessment by preparing your home ahead of time. That includes:

  • Noting any signs of pests around the home

  • Removing obstacles in the way of the attic, basement, plumbing, garbage, and other key areas that inspectors will need to access

  • Keeping children and pets away from inspection areas

Moles live underground and feed on insects. They dig and move through tunnels, usually in meadows or forests but sometimes in lawns and gardens. They are about 6 inches long with large claws, tiny eyes, and hidden ears.

Shrews do not dig their own tunnels but will use other animals’ tunnels, and are about 3 to 4 inches long. They look similar to mice and feed on insects.

Voles are similar in size to moles but have large eyes and small but visible ears. Rather than eating insects, voles are herbivores that prefer seeds, grasses, and plant roots.
