"Everything went perfectly. The work was completed on time, Don and his assistant were friendly and professional, Don kept me informed about the status of the project every step of the way, and the quality of work and finished product were outstanding. I would definitely use Express Concrete again for other projects, and I highly recommend them."

"Three years ago, Matt installed a concrete patio between my pool and my house. I made a point of expressing my concerns on settling because of the extensive amount of ground that had been moved. This spring one of the slabs has sunk about half an inch, another has cracked. I have emailed Matt twice asking what we could do to correct the issue since concrete should last more than 3 years. I have received no response. Very disappointed. I'm hoping he contracts me to try to work this out."

"Premier Construction Consultants, LLC completed two projects , they excavated, installed storm drain and poured concrete for a commercial project, and excavated for a large residential patio by my pool that the pool contractor messed up. They are the best at what they do, rather it’s excavation, site utilities, concrete work, they are the best at what they do."

Decorative Concrete questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put hot pots on concrete countertops, but only if they’ve been properly sealed. While the concrete itself is heat-resistant, the sealant may not be, meaning heat may discolor the sealant, so use caution.

Polished concrete floors also have downsides. Some homeowners, for example, might dislike the coldness of the material (though area rugs can help warm up the space). Concrete floors are also hard, which isn’t always ideal for children and pets. What’s more, these floors are susceptible to cracking, and repairs can be costly. Some homeowners might not like that installation isn’t DIY-friendly.

Poured concrete should be set and hard to the touch within 24 to 48 hours, although it depends on the humidity in the air, the thickness of the concrete, and the type of concrete. It’s best to leave concrete to set for three days before exposing to foot traffic or stress. Concrete takes between 20 and 30 days to cure and reach its peak strength, so for foundations and retaining walls, plan to wait about a month before placing any load on your concrete.

Clean regularly, reseal every 2-3 years, and avoid abrasive cleaning agents to preserve the finish.

The actual moisture level that is acceptable for your concrete floor depends on what primer or flooring material you plan to install above it. For this reason, you should check the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact details.

Generally, the moisture levels should be 3.5% to 4.5%, although it does vary. Some products can handle higher levels of moisture, so you should always test your concrete before purchasing your flooring materials.
