"Tom was very responsive and professional. He was prompt in returning my wife's initial phone call, made time in this schedule to stop by the house and give an estimate a few days later, and had the job complete the following week. While he was out to give the estimate, he applied some sealant to our siding at no charge to help fix our leak, before we had even decided to give them the job. It was very nice! The cost of the work was very reasonable compared to other estimates we received, and we're very satisfied with the quality of the work. We'd definitely use them again."

Siding FAQs, answered by experts

A self-etching primer is the best option for aluminum siding. These are specifically designed to bond with bare metals, among other surfaces, leading to better adhesion and corrosion resistance. An oil-based primer is a good alternative if you can’t find a self-etching primer.

For homeowners looking for a less expensive alternative to metal siding, the most popular choice is vinyl siding. At just $3 to $12 per square foot, vinyl siding can cost much less than some types of metal siding. Other popular alternatives include fiber cement and engineered wood. Consult a local siding contractor to determine which type of siding will work best for your home.

Vinyl siding is the cheapest option in terms of upfront costs. The average cost to install vinyl siding is around $12,173, with certain types like vinyl shake, clapboard, or dutch lap costing as little as $2 to $3 per square foot. While vinyl is very low-cost, it may not last as long as natural materials or metal, with a typical lifespan of 20 to 40 years. In contrast, metal siding is more expensive initially but can save you money in the long run due to its longer lifespan, which is often double that of vinyl. It's recommended to consult a siding professional to determine if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your specific home.

Yes, insulated vinyl siding increases the R-value of your home. Depending on the quality and brand of the insulated vinyl, you can get an R-value that is up to 5 times greater than traditional vinyl siding. This can be fantastic for homeowners who are trying to lower their utility costs.

Brick and stone are durable, low-maintenance materials that offer excellent insulation, aesthetic appeal, and can increase property value.
