"We're putting our house up for sale in a week and I needed some landscaping done to get it ready. Kevin was the only landscaper to get back to me. It started off well, with Kevin coming out to take a look at my property and give me a bid on the project. Everything was going well and we were scheduled to have our flower beds mulched, bushes trimmed, leaves cleaned up and a pile of wood removed on April 5th. Morning of April 5th comes, then around 1pm Kevin and his team still haven't shown up so I contact him...only then does he tell me that they can't make it that day and he needs to reschedule for Saturday April 10th. Keep in mind, I had to contact him to actually find this out...I initiated it! Fine, Saturday works but I need it done then. On the Friday night before, I decide to call and confirm that they are still coming the next day to do the work. A lady answers the phone in a weird way, I won't go into detail here, but not really a professional way to answer a phone. Whatever floats your boat though! She tells me she needs to call Kevin and will get back to me with confirmation. She calls back a few minutes later and tells me Kevin can't make it Saturday but should be able to on Sunday. Not happy, but still fine. Saturday afternoon I get another call, and what do you know...Kevin can't do the job on Sunday either! The whole time I stressed that I needed the work done so we could get our house on the market! Finally, forget it, I'll just do it myself. Had to take 3 unexpected days off from work to do all of the work by myself. This is probably the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. You are only as good as your word, and K&M Landscaping is abysmal. I wouldn't trust them for anything now!"

Espinoza's Family Landscaping is a small family owned business. We work hard to provide you with beautiful landscaping work at reasonable and affordable prices! Our business works year-round so we are available for any season, event, or job needed. Our business also does cleaning services, where we remove any unwanted furniture from homes or garages. Perfect for the Spring cleaning time! Checks are most preferred.
"I would never use this company (Espinoza’s Family Landscaping) again. I initially laid out a detailed statement of work including types of trees & bushes. Original estimate was $700 but the day of work it became $1,500. Majority of work was done by one laborer because the owner was continually getting materials. Business owner changed tree selection because he had no knowledge what was available even though he initially said he could give me everything I requested. Didn’t supply the right stone or add the weed deterrent cloth. Requested cash each initially and during work and after work done. Items supplied were of lesser quality because they were all bought from Home Depot (tags attached). All trees & bushes allegedly had a one-year guarantee. I paid the final bill with his promise that he’d return and correct or add what he forgot. Never came back after numerous emails & phone messages. He also was informed much of what he planted (trees – bushes) had died but he also ignored replacement notifications."

Yes, you should confirm that the fencing installer you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. In most cases they do not need a specific fencing license, but rather a general contractor’s license. Hiring a licensed contractor protects you as a homeowner from fraud, poor work, and potential legal woes.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Licensing and certification are not necessary.
The average cost to install a fence is between $1,760 and $4,500. These costs are what an average homeowner spends, but you might spend more or less depending on several factors. For a smaller DIY project, you might get away with spending as little as $430, or for a much larger project (like fencing for a 5-acre yard), you can spend in excess of $43,000.
Besides the size of your yard, other factors like your fence material, fence height, site prep, and additional fence features like gates all impact the overall cost. Additionally, the high cost of raw materials and manufacturing can all make the overall price tag higher.
The overall cost of a fence project depends on numerous factors, including the size of your yard, fence material, fence height, site preparation, and additional features like gates.
Before you hire a fence installer to build you the fence of your dreams for your yard, it’s important to set expectations up front by asking questions. Some questions to consider include:
Do you offer a warranty?
Do you offer financing or a payment plan?
Do you have references?
Do you have photos of previous work?
What type of fencing materials do you work with?
Do you have references?
Are all fasteners exterior (galvanized)?
How deep are you concreting the post?
What is the lowest maintenance fencing?
How will you deal with slopes?
Only some fences require a permit to build. Factors like where you live, how tall your fence will be, and where in your yard you plan to build all impact the need to have a permit. Below are a few examples of when a permit is needed; it’s always best to check with your fence installer to confirm if a permit is required.
Generally, if you live somewhere rural, like on a farm, there’s a good chance you will not need a fence permit. However, you will most likely need a permit if you live in a highly populated area. In addition, many privacy fences in your backyard won’t need a permit if it is 6 feet or shorter. However, you might need a permit for anything over 3.5 feet in your front yard.
Any solid panels over 8 feet in height will require a permit, while a 2-foot lattice top on a 6-foot fence does not require a permit.
Fence installers typically charge by the hour when working on a project. Typically, you can expect to pay around $50 per hour for fence installation. Your project might take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the length of your fence, overall project complexity, and fence type.
