"The painting and the actual work went well The Contract materials described was not the same materials that was used and when I ask for main lien releases from the suppliers, I never got those. Instead, I was told that I was being too cautious and overacting when really it is my right to get that paperwork. They told me the supplier does not do that but when I call the suppliers, they told me that they do supply liens when requested or and also that would be Lien releases. I ended up just paying them instead of continually fighting with them and hoping that nothing ever happens as far as any vendors or labor or being paid in having a right to lien my property"

Generally, your homeowner’s insurance might only cover ceiling collapses caused by problems under the coverage, such as a busted pipe. But if the ceiling collapse resulted from owner negligence, maintenance issues, or other reasons excluded by your policy, you could be on your own. Whether you can repair or install plaster yourself depends on the project size and your tolerance for DIY projects. You may feel perfectly comfortable taking on a small plaster repair project, but prefer to leave a room restoration or renovation to a local plaster repair professional.

Since the project's end result, including its durability and appearance, depend on how well you prepare the wall and apply the plaster, you may want to let a professional take it on if you're not 100% confident.

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.
