He is personal, caring , prompt , affordable and always looking out for solutions and ways to complete your project in a timely , cost effective manor . He is extremely meticulous. Joe treats your job as if it was his own house .. Joe is extremely neat and keeps his job site clean and orderly during all phases of the project . He carefully protects the areas of the home that are not directly involved in the project . His estimates are well thought out so there are no â surprises â at the end . He is a man of his word and I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone I know ! Our project was on budget , on Time and absolutely stunning when completed . He works well with other contractor deadlines and scheduling and is always willing to adjust his work as needed.. if am extremely satisfied with all of his work . We originally hired Joe for some drywall popcorn removal and to float and re-texture all walls .. We ended up keeping Joe for the majority of the entire makeover / remodel project.. As we progressed through all the other phases of construction we learned of his vast experience and talents . He was prompt to supply each phase with estimates and time frames . Again each phase was on Budget and on time ! He is a hidden Gem ! You really should give him a call !! I promise you wonâ t be disappointed Thank you Joe"

"Excellent team, professional, friendly, always on time, informative, respectful of our home and their working space, went above and beyond consulting their resources and fixing mistakes from previous contractor. Gowright made extensive effort to keep me informed of every aspect and step of their work, providing photo and text message updates, and cleaned up the space at the space at end of every day. The result was a beautiful room! I will be hiring the team again for other projects around the house."

"It went pretty smoothly. One of the best contractors I have had from Choice Home Warranty. Century Restoration Maintenance, LLC and owner PeAyre Gardner were awesome. I have had CHW several years and I wanted to cancel because every thing we called about they denied the claim. My husband decided to keep them. I was pleasantly surprised that they fixed both the leak and drywall in the ceiling from the leak. I did have to provide extra pics from the leak before it was approved as initially the claim was denied."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The time it takes for thinset to dry is determined by your room’s ambient temperature and humidity levels. Assuming the average humidity level is around 40% with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit, thinset can dry within 48 hours. Lower temperatures and higher humidity can extend the curing process beyond 72 hours, while high heat and zero humidity can shorten the curing process. However, thinset can crack if it dries too fast.

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim. Additionally, starting at the top is physically easier, as you won't have to fit the top sheet into a tight space between the lower sheet and the ceiling, or try to balance the upper sheets on the lower ones while securing them.

All plaster walls will crack over time due to normal house settling and expansion and contraction from temperature and moisture changes. Small, thin hairline cracks are generally not serious and are mostly a cosmetic issue. However, larger or more significant cracks can indicate structural problems.

Here's how to tell the difference:

  • Cosmetic Cracks: Cracks that are 0.5 cm (0.2 inches) or thinner are typically cosmetic.

  • Structural Cracks: Cracks wider than 0.5 cm, excessive or deep cracks, multiple cracks in the same area, or cracks that span around corners can signify a structural or foundation issue. Cracks along the joints where walls meet the ceiling also warrant attention.

For cracks wider than 0.5 cm, structural repair is needed. If a crack is 2.5 cm (1 inch) or wider, or if you notice any signs of a structural problem, it is best to contact a plaster repair professional to assess the damage.

Brick and stucco are a lot more different. You must use picture hanging clips designed for brick walls, or use a plaster rail system with adjustable hooks. Any other type of hanging hardware will cause damage to the bricks behind. You won’t be able to really use nails, either, because they’re not strong enough to go into the bricks.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.
