"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

Small jobs welcome

"I had a dishwasher that leaked and he had the wood floors repaired and refinished in the whole house. Plus all new wall base. Removed lower cabinets and replaced them with new and put in a garbage door. Great idea... I would not have thought of it. He patched and repaired walls and had new countertops put in. Installed new appliances. Fixed an existing problem with microwave exhaust. I am so pleased with how it all turned out. Glad I had Bob do the work. A honest and hardworking man. I plan on using him for future jobs! Natalie M. Dundee, Oregon"

"Great experience from start to finish. The owner was very helpful and clear in setting up the appointment. The 2-man crew arrived right on time and got right to work. They were very friendly, hard-working and efficient. They went beyond the call of duty in helping us with taking the beds apart and putting them back together. They moved all the major appliances, and when the refrigerator wouldn't fit through the door, they removed the doors, got it inside, and put it back together. They were very flexible and kept at the job all day, never seeming to tire or slow down. This was truly a great experience for us, and I highly recommend their service."

"Mark immediately answered his phone (not very many contractors do that).  Since he was in the area, he came by a couple of hours later and gave me an estimate (best and worst case).  A few days later, a carpenter with many years experience began work on the opening.  He was able to move the walls just slightly so now the opening is plumb.  Only took a couple of hours to do the job.  He cleaned up afterwards, and now we are really to do the door installations.

Closets questions, answered by experts

You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.

Fortunately, there are no hard and fast rules or regulations regarding the height of closet shelving. However, the typical height for a single closet shelf with a hanging bar is 70 inches from the floor. For a double-hanging system, use 84 to 85 inches from the floor for the top one and 42 inches for the lower.

Costs depend on material type, size, and additional features like lighting or sliding doors.

Since they are so fragile, it is not usually recommended to stack anything on top of your packed lamps. If you have sturdy boxes, and what you plan to put on top of them is of a similar weight, it’s okay to stack.

Adding a mudroom is one of the most budget-friendly home additions compared to other projects, costing between $8,000 and $16,000 on average. Not only is the room often quite small, but it also requires minimal fixtures or wiring to make the room practical. The most costly features include a weatherproof floor and an exterior door.
