"The guys were fabulous. They were courteous, worked quickly and efficiently and went the extra mile to be helpful. They saw that I didn't have my closet packed up so they left two wardrobe boxes for me. I quickly put my stuff in, they moved them and came back the next day to pick up the boxes. They made the move so easy for us. Showed up on time and promptly returned phone calls when I was setting up the whole move. Thanks!"

"Mark and crew were great.  Unlike several other contractors we tried to contact, Mark was quick to answer his phone and always available for questions.  His attentiveness and responsiveness, along with a price point within our budget, was ultimately the deciding factor to go with Fine Finish.  He did a great job of wrangling sub-contractors to take care of drywall, flooring, electrical, and custom closet doors. The project took a little longer than we had hoped (but when isn't that true?), but in the end we are extremely pleased with the final product.

We can do it. It's two brothers, Jed and Gill Lancaster, that carry on the traditions of our late father, James Lancaster CCB#8096, J&G Wallboard. by offering prompt, professional construction services to our community. Our father operated his business from 1972-2020. Originally, J&G Wallboard was a Specialty Contractor outfit that did nothing but drywall work. We did insulation, nailing sheetrock, finish work, (mudding), texture, primer, and painting. We also specialized in doing sheetrock repairs or "patches" and could match any existing texture patterns. Eventually, after Jed and I grew older, dad decided to become a General Contractor. After the transition, we did a lot of property management work. There is not much that we cannot do. Siding, windows, doors, flooring, and more. We can fix low spots in your floor from settling. If you have new appliances, we can install them. Dry rot is not a problem. We have built several decks and brought some up to code for earthquakes. Roofing is fun when you have a good partner like my brother. Also, we keep our work spaces clean and don't mind taking off our shoes if necessary.

Closets questions, answered by experts

A "reach-in pantry" is a smaller, cabinet-style pantry that allows you to grab items by simply reaching inside. On the other hand, a "walk-in pantry" is like a closet or small room that offers a larger space that you can physically enter to get your food. Walk-in pantries allow for more customizable shelving. A reach-in pantry is usually around 5 feet wide by 2 feet deep, while a walk-in pantry is closer to 5 feet by 5 feet or larger.

Costs depend on material type, size, and additional features like lighting or sliding doors.

Yes, books are typically heavier than clothes, unless you have a collection exclusively of paperbacks or comic books. That’s why packing lots of books warrants careful planning and consideration. Consider packing up your reading collection first to determine whether you need to downsize it before loading it into your moving truck.

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.

Although you can complete a closet frame in just an afternoon, finishing the entire closet will take a few days to a week. However, that’s still not as much as the average time it takes to remodel a closet, which can take anywhere from several weeks to more than a month. That’s because you also have to consider the time it will take to demolish the existing space, plan a new design, order materials, and actually install it.
