"Austin and his team were wonderful to work with on a backyard renovation, which included installing turf. Communication was appropriate throughout the engagement. The end product is even better than I could have expected. I would gladly hire this team again!"

"What a great find CO Excavation was! Bill and his crew were professional and friendly. They showed up on time with all the right equipment, worked diligently and quickly, did a great job, and priced their work reasonably. They removed some large pine trees, moved/placed large boulders, excavated a circle driveway, built quite a few large berms, sculpted a swale, installed drainage, and leveled our yard for landscaping."

"We wanted greater privacy in our back yard. I searched and read reviews on line about this contractor and made contact. A review of our current fence and suggestions on how we could adjust were made. A quote was provided and I contracted to complete the job. We were added to their schedule and shortly thereafter the job was completed and it came in under the original quote which is so rare for a contractor to adjust lower based on time worked on the project. We very pleased with the work done and love our new gained privacy. I would highly recommend this contractor on communication, accurate proposal and quality workmanship. We’re planning on some other projects on our home and will again use this contractor."

"We were extremely pleased with Powers Bath & Remodel. Their representative arrived on time to provide a bid. (The competitor's representative was two hours late and failed to call, so we didn't let him in the door.) The workers arrived as scheduled and completed the job in three days, as promised. They cleaned up every day, and the new bathroom looks fantastic. We were so satisfied that we asked them to replace the floor in our main bathroom. Unfortunately, they said the job was "too small," and they were fully booked through January."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Removing old tiles can be more complicated, but it can also be more manageable, depending on your circumstances. Typically, old tile is hard to remove because the adhesive had loads of time to bond with your wall, becoming a formidable foe between you and your new tile installation project. On the other hand, old tile in high-traffic areas can become loose, making it much easier to remove.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

The best paints for shower tiles include epoxy, latex, or acrylic. Ideally, you should look for paints that are waterproof and mildew-resistant if you plan to paint shower or other bathroom tiles. You can even find waterproof paints made specifically for tiled surfaces, which will be the best option for shower tile paint that lasts as long as possible.
