"What a great find CO Excavation was! Bill and his crew were professional and friendly. They showed up on time with all the right equipment, worked diligently and quickly, did a great job, and priced their work reasonably. They removed some large pine trees, moved/placed large boulders, excavated a circle driveway, built quite a few large berms, sculpted a swale, installed drainage, and leveled our yard for landscaping."

"I hired Ben to recreate a retaining wall on my property. I gave home some guidance on how it should look, provided pictures and examples, however as he started to lay it out I had some modifications and feedback. He took all feedback and used his skills and experience to make it look natural but also function as a retaining wall. Beautiful and functional work at the end of the day and very reasonable pricing."

"Claude was great to work with. Claude trenched the power line and laid the conduit. Cut a new driveway and graveled it. Leveled a pad. I can't say enough things about how good he was to work with. I had ideas about how to do the project Claude showed me how it could be done better and cheaper."

"We were very pleased with both the quality of the work and the experience of working with Parker. Parker was a breath of fresh air compared to the excavators we talked to before trying Angi. He spent time with us looking at the ruts in our 30-year old driveway, discussed solutions and options, and gave us a fair, detailed quote so we knew exactly what to expect. He communicated with us every step of the way, so scheduling and knowing what to expect were a breeze. Parker and his crew arrived exactly when they said they would. They worked hard all day to strip the driveway and change the slope, so water drains down the hillside rather than pooling. They put down new rock, graded it, and then rolled it, so in the words of my husband, “Our gravel driveway is as smooth as asphalt.” Our family, regular visitors, and delivery drivers are very pleased with the end result. It was a pleasure doing business with Parker, and we are very glad we found him."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

DIY home gardening can be relaxing, joyful, and cost-effective. From mowing your lawn to planting your own flower beds, there is a wide variety of gardening tasks that you can do yourself to make your yard look beautiful. If you’d rather spend your time not in the dirt, or if you’d like someone to take care of your plants for you, calling a professional gardening service is best. They can give you a workup of what services you’ll need and how often to schedule them.

As long as you’re building a greenhouse, consider the overall look of your backyard. Could it benefit from stone walkways or grading? As long as you’re hiring a hardscaping pro to lay the foundation for a greenhouse, you could tackle those other projects to give your whole yard a glow-up at the same time.

Yes, adding a pergola can add value to your home and provides an excellent selling point for potential buyers who enjoy outdoor living. Pergolas may have a 50% to 80% return on investment. To add more value, choose a structure made from durable, long-lasting materials and have it professionally installed. Extra features like a motorized roof, smart louvers, and heaters or misters may also give you a better return on investment.

Moss attaches to the ground but doesn’t have roots, so it can take four to six weeks for establishment to begin. It takes between 12 and 18 months for full coverage, and maximum thickness takes about two years. Keep your moss moist and debris-free to ensure it establishes itself well.

The best time to plant is between spring and autumn. Springtime weather is typically mild and is when nurseries start to bloom. When the summer weather arrives and it’s hot out, it’s best to avoid planting bare-root plants, but you can still plant many in-container varieties. The first sign of fall is another great opportunity to plant biennials if you live in southern states, or a lovely vegetable garden up north.
