"Extremely well. The house was a rental and the previous tenants had a Golden Retriever dog (long hair). The ducts were clogged with dog hair. The crew arrived on time and went right to work vacuuming every duct and the HVAC unit."

"It was really a great experience from the very beginning. I found them online, on an advertisement on my phone. I clicked on the ad, which led me to their website. I filled out the contact form and within 2 hours someone called me to make an appt. They explained over the phone that it would be an "arrival window" of 3 hours, and I was expecting something like that. They called this morning to let me know they were on their way, which I thought was very nice. The technician, Dave, arrived at the very beginning of their "arrival window", which was also nice. The technician arrived in a nice, professionally lettered company van, which I appreciate. You'd be surprised how many companies DON'T do that. Dave was in a nice uniform, seemed clean-cut and pleasant. I showed the him around to where my furnace, thermostat and A/C unit were and left him to do his thing. All I had requested of them was a tune-up and just a once-over on both the furnace and the A/C unit. Just some preventative maintenance, so that we wouldn't have any problems [that could have been prevented] this winter with the furnace or next spring when we went to turn on the A/C unit. He did find some things that needed replaced and cleaned out with our A/C unit and said he was surprised to hear it was still working well. It would have probably failed next season if we hadn't have had him out to fix these problems. There wasn't much wrong with our furnace, but I was glad he checked it out. He replaced our screens in our furnace. That was cool that this was included as part of the service call. He also stayed and talked with me for 5-10 minutes about the age of my furnace, what to keep an eye out for, and how much longer I should expect it to last. That was very nice and I could tell he really knew his business well, which added to my confidence in this company. The service took about 90 minutes and I felt the price they charged was very fair. It was probably more than some companies charge, but I would rather have a really professional outfit for a little more money than save money and have a less professional company. So to me, the rate I paid was a good value. I was just impressed all the way around with this company and with Dave. I'd recommend this company to anyone looking for HVAC work. They are a professional outfit, all the way down the line.

"I've worked with Evergreen since we purchased our home in 2020. They've done a multitude of projects for us, the most recent being installing an entirely new HVAC system (two units inside and out). They are on time, friendly, courteous, and very professional. They even put up with our rather high-strung little poodle. We had multiple companies bid our job, and we chose Evergreen both because we knew they would do a good job and stand behind their products. We also knew they would be great folks to have in our home doing work. It's never easy when contractors are in your living space, but they make it as pleasant as it can be. Thanks to Shaun and his team for doing such a great job for us, many times over!"

"They called quickly and were able to come within hours, fitting me in at the end of there day at 9:00 pm. They knew what the problem was from my description and had the part with them. My heat pump was fixed in minutes. They wanted to see my furnace and saw it was covered with inches of dust and cat hair. Cleaning it out took longer than repairing the heat pump. That made such a huge difference in the function of the whole system. The furnace is quieter and cools faster now. While my unit is very old, they didn't try to scare me into a new system. But they did tell me about federal, state, and local power company rebates available when I decide to upgrade. I will most definitely pass there business cards on to my neighbors, and go back to them when I do upgrade. My indoor temp was 90 degrees and Jason was dripping sweat cleaning the furnace. Super nice guys. Smiling and friendly after a very hot and truly long day of travel and helping folks get their air conditioning working again."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

During the summer, it’s best to set your AC to 78 degrees when you’re home and awake, according to the Department of Energy (DOE). For better energy efficiency, raise the temperature slightly to 85 degrees while you’re out of the house. The National Sleep Foundation advises lowering your thermostat to between 60 and 67 degrees when you’re asleep.

No, you should not run an air conditioner with a Freon leak. If you think your AC unit is leaking refrigerant, shut it off immediately. When you keep using a leaky air conditioner, it could damage the unit and release more refrigerant. After turning off the AC, have an HVAC pro come take a look at the unit.

No. HVAC, which stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, includes all of the systems that work together to regulate a building’s temperature and humidity levels. In comparison, air conditioners only provide cooling. You can have an air conditioner as part of your HVAC system, but not all HVAC systems include air conditioners.

Yes, a dirty air filter can cause a higher electric bill. That’s because clogged filters make it harder for air to flow through your HVAC system, which forces it to work harder and use more energy. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, replacing dirty filters can save you between 5% and 15% in utility costs.

You should plan to change your AC unit's filter every one to three months, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. You should also clean the coils at least once per year, but if you have pets or someone in your household has allergies, you might need to clean them more often. Fortunately, many pros will clean the coils and change the filter for you during an inspection, which you should schedule once or twice per year.
