Small jobs welcome

"Pat has designed a number of homes of which I have lived in or have built for sale. Along with the structural engineer, everything worked well as planned. I can say for sure the design department is a real value as I have built other architect, drawn homes that cost much more to build not to mention the design fees. Pat has the experience , and the eye to design any type of build . DB now retired homebuilder."

"We purchased a home and needed help with remodeling as well as designing our new home. Alma was amazing, she found all the contractors and ensured they did an excellent job on our flooring as well as a full kitchen and 3 bath remodel. On top of that she found all of our furniture and decorate everything within our budget. The process was seamless, stress free and done within the promised time frame. Highly recommended!"

"Engineer was knowledgeable and efficient. He noticed that the door frame mounting boards were pulling away from the wall and fixed them with new lag bolts. My 45 year old door runs like brand new."

"They put moldings over a closet and punctured the tracks so the doors couldn't slide.  That created an extra job for my husband who had to redo it.  One window they framed and did a good job the other had a few gaps that I can fix with caulk.  The closet they framed was uneven by about a half inch on one side.  So good job for getting a few things finished but not very detail oriented.

"The Willco guys went out and got started quickly. While the bid was not the cheapest, as a Property Management company with over 350 homes their price was right. They determined the front entry/porch had rotted away in the last 100 years and needed replacement. I verified their assessment and agreed. They rebuilt it and it is now solid - good for another 100 years.
The paint job was excellent, The paint covers well, and looks great.
The guys at Willco were easy to deal with and responded fast. We have used them on other smaller jobs (like painting house trim) they always come through.

"Our house is not an ordinary house...  It was built in 1888 and any work done on it is an adventure. Jeff and his team at Prograss Home Services helped us create an awesome new kitchen, great room, pantry, and bake center. We removed an existing wall and completely tore everything down to the studs and started over. His team helped us from beginning to end, letting us do what we wanted but giving us expert advice along the way to avoid common mistakes. They installed new hardwood floors, doors, walls, cabinetry (which they made in their shop), fantastic slide-outs in the drawers and pantry, and built an impressive island which is the center piece. We showed him pictures, met with a designer, and turned them loose. We tell people the best thing we ever did was decide what we wanted and then got out of the way and let Jeff do the rest.
Jeff and his team were wonderful to work with, always showing up on schedule and cleaning up at the end of the day. I won't lie, the intrusion was not fun, but Jeff and his team are true professionals, and we entrusted our home to them while we were at work and we never had an issue. We would highly recommend Prograss Home Services for any remodel job, large or small.

Architects questions, answered by experts

Designing a building takes 2-6 months, depending on project size, required permits, and revisions.

While towers and turrets are frequently present in Queen Anne-style houses, these design elements are not necessary for a home to be considered a Queen Anne. Turrets and towers add visual interest and unique interior spaces, but many Queen Anne homes do not contain these features.

It can take anywhere from a few days to several months to draw up architectural plans, depending on the complexity of your project. Architectural plans are highly detailed documents that take time to complete, and any changes or alterations can significantly extend how long they take.

The architect you choose to work with should have experience with the type of design you’re interested in, a portfolio of similar projects they’ve completed, and a process and work style that aligns with your expectations. A seasoned architect will be able to provide you with all that information so you can ensure they’re a good fit.

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.
