"Brandon was great to work with. He quickly understood what I wanted and gave options and clear explanations. I had Woodline add an EV NEMA 14-50 outlet and a 39 foot 6 gauge run to the other side of my garage from the electrical panel. The price was much lower than other quotes. The materials and quality of work were top notch. Workers were very helpful and did excellent work. Sean suggested an EV rated socket which they included for no additional charge. They had to move a breaker into another slot with two low profile breakers to add the 50 Amp breaker to the panel. They did excellent work, were great to work with, and cleaned up well after the project. Highly recommend Woodline Electric."

"After another electrical company cancelled the appointment I started calling various folks on Angies list. I came across RK Electric. Left a VM. Carol called few minutes later and asked for pictures. She immediately recommended that I reset a few CFGI plugs in various bathrooms and then guide me to reset my breakers in garage and try again. Wow, all power was restored and I actually learned how to troubleshoot electrical problems. Carol was heaven sent. I am forever grateful. Well Done."

"Ideal experience with this company! They contacted me and came out to make the bid the same day I contacted them. They were super flexible and worked to accommodate my schedule. I needed to wait until my EV charger arrived from the manufacturer. They came out the day after it arrived, installed the unit in under two hours, and it's been working flawlessly ever since. Don't let their name fool you--John's Waterproofing is expert at electrical work! I will use them again."

"Murphy Family Electric is an awesome company with very competent technicians and reasonable rates. They make the whole process pretty straightforward. I had used them to get my Tesla charger in 2018 (Cost: $799 including material). I was so impressed with their work that when I had a complex electrical job - installing a new 120v outlet requiring a new wire from the circuit breaker - I did not get any quotes but just booked them. That job was done very professionally as well (Cost: $949). Fast forward to Mar 2025, my tesla charger had problems with over heating and intermittent power loss. I called Murphy Family Electric and they sent a technician the same day who came and adjusted/cleaned the connections and spent 30 mins fixing the problem. And to my surprise the company did not even charge me anything for this. So on top of everything else you can add absolutely fantastic customer service to their list of attributes."

Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Charging your EV every night isn’t always necessary. Most EVs have sufficient range to cover daily commutes without needing a nightly charge, particularly if you have a Level 2 charger. Charging once every few days or as needed can prolong the battery’s lifespan.

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

The cost of installing a 240-volt outlet for an electric car averages between $175 and $300. Depending on the type of outlet as well as labor costs, you might pay as little as $130 or upwards of $400. Hiring a professional electrician makes up the bulk of the expense but ensures a safe and code-compliant installation.

Yes, electricians must be licensed, certified, and in most cases, insured. Licensing requirements vary by state and local municipality, but most U.S. municipalities require electricians to hold an electrical contractor’s license. It's always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. Even if licensing is not required in your area, hiring a licensed and experienced electrician often leads to a better end result.

A license is a legal requirement to operate a business and is necessary for pulling project permits. Certifications, on the other hand, are typically voluntary and demonstrate a certain level of expertise. In some cases, a certified electrician may send an apprentice or journeyman to perform the work, but they must operate under a primary electrician who holds the proper license.

Before hiring, you should verify the electrician's license, insurance coverage, and any third-party certifications. You can use Angi’s contractor licensing search to confirm a pro's license status. Additionally, businesses with the “Angi Approved” badge on our platform meet strict criteria, including having the required state and local licenses, passing a background check, and maintaining a high average rating.

Setting up utilities on a vacant property usually takes at least a few months, or between 6 weeks to 16 weeks. This process requires working with the local planning and zoning department, hiring a building contractor or engineer to design the utility layout, securing permits, laying the lines, and connecting the utilities.
