"Called John for a estimate and he came out the next day.  He looked the house over and told me what he thought needed to be done to it to seal up the wood.  That night he sent the estimate by email and I called him to make a appointment.    Two week later they called to start work .  The time line was as he said it would be.  The next day he came out with a helper and they power washed the house so he could let it dry for 2 days before  starting prep work.  That day John came with 3 very nice young men that worked all day in the heat scrapping and sealing the walls and painted three doors with 2 coats of paint.  The next day they came back bright and early and started the main house.  All the windows and doors were covered and they sprayed and back rolled the house with  2 thick layers of paint.  The next day they came while were were gone and did all of the trim the pump house and 4 long boards in a lean-two that was added on to our shop, that was all done by hand. When I came home 3 days later the house looked like a million bucks.  Couldn't have ask for a better job.  I walked around the house and I couldn't find anything that wasn't perfect or even one drop of paint on the ground or deck, which comes flat up to the house. They always cleaned up each night before they left. and were very polite gentlemen. My husband said he had never seen anyone work as long and hard at the prep on the house as these guys did.  I would hire them again in a minute."

"They were efficient in terms of the process. They sent the pad in a reasonable time frame. I did have to call a couple times. It took about a month to deliver. They sent the material which was packed nicely. There were 2 issues: 1-the glue or adhesive they used smelled badly. I had to put in my garage for a couple weeks until that 2-every corner was protruded, the table pad corners were too sharp on the mat .which poses risks with small children. I called about that and they said to put some tape over it. The manager called back to discuss the issue was. She suggested that I try to fix. it. The company might have done something to repair if I had followed up."

"Jim Fisher-owner- was always prompt in responding to a phone call or request for a meeting which was nice.  He started and finished the job as scheduled.  The end results were perfect!  The house looked fantastic and he didn't try to scrimp by using cheap paint.  The house had huge logs for the two porches and rail trim which had been painted brown by the previous owner.  I wanted them restored to original condition so you could see the natural wood.  Jim and his team hand sanded the logs- I never heard a complaint about the amount of work involved.  The decking had a previous finish which unevenly absorbed the new finish- Jim wrote right on the invoice at the end of the job that as soon as the decking could be refinished again next year he would do it free of charge (the new finish requires a year before it can be re-done).  He also has a written 10 year guarantee on his work which is great.
I would not hesitate to use Jim's company again and highly recommend him!

"Stringfield Roofing did a great job at a competitive price. Owner Dillon and his employees were always respectfully receptive if I had a concern and would address any issues promptly. Months later in winter when lights indoors are on for longer periods my skylight was collecting an incredible number of flies and moths. I called Dillon to see if he could check to be sure the skylight was fitting correctly post-roof replacement. He came, no questions asked, inspected it, found it loose and fixed it. He even replaced worn weatherstripping (normal wear and tear unrelated to roofing job) at no expense to me. Then he cleaned out the bugs and everything looked great again. Dillon and his employees always friendly and cheerful. Delightful to work with. Small company makes doing an excellent job and customer service top priorities."

"Sears Home Improvement Products have washers and fittings to repair washing machines and such. The staff seem real knowledgeable and they were friendly with my son when my son was asking the sort of questions he asks everyone! The pricing is reasonable."

"After I approved the drapes, I was sent an invoice for $700. I paid the invoice. It's been over a year and despite numerous emails (over a dozen) with Amanda Zettel of Homemade Design, I still have not received the drapes or a refund. I was very satisfied with all of Homemade Design's work up until this experience."

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.
