Customers say: Quick response

"I original was upset that I hadn't heard from them regarding the lawn services requested and quoted; however, I got a hold of them and they explained the situation. My mother was very please with them. I would just recommend them calling next time they're running behind schedule."

"Smalltown Property Revival provided a free detailed estimate of all the work I wanted done. Chris said they could take care of all of it in one day and they did. Workers Gavin, Zack and Jared toiled diligently at cleaning out areas of overgrown brush, bushes, one huge and one smaller tree along with old fencing, posts and a big decrepit old doghouse. They hauled everything away and left the area in much better shape . Everyone of them were respectful and polite. You can't go wrong by choosing this company."

Small jobs welcome

"We had our Bradford Pear tree removed. He did a wonderful job and removed our large tree quickly. He is extremely professional, a very nice man, and a hard worker. His prices are fantastic. When we realized our tree needed cut down, we were quoted 8,000 dollars to take down my tree by a local company in Norman. Samuel Augustus General contracting was able to remove it for 2000.00. Seriously, folks, he is the guy you want. If in Norman, dont waste your time with local tree service companies; they will destroy your bank account. Samuel Augustus General Contracting and excavation will get the job done correctly, quickly, and at a price that is incredibly fair. Please consider him for your tree removal or the other services he offers."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Early signs that a tree is struggling include premature leaf shedding and lesions or other strange markings. Peeling bark, dead or rotten branches on the ground, and a conspicuous lack of leaves can all be signs that a tree has started to die. By the time a tree starts leaning, it’s usually too far gone to save.

Ideally, you should wait to prune until trees have gone dormant in late fall to early winter. The worst times to prune trees are early fall and late summer, as pruning them so close to dormancy makes it difficult for the tree recover before it goes dormant for the season.

Though summer is not ideal, you can do some light pruning during this time of year. Just make sure it’s not excessive. Vigorous pruning will stress the tree and impact next year’s growth. Generally, August to September are the best summer-pruning months, particularly for fruit trees.

Many consider the Fraser fir to be the most popular type of Christmas tree, but which type of tree sells out near you can depend on region and decorating trends that year. For example, the Leyland cypress is especially popular in the Southeast, according to the National Christmas Tree Association.

How often and long you should water a tree depends on the species and if it is mature or newly planted. The amount of water is also based on the tree's size. A good rule of thumb is approximately 5 gallons per inch of the trunk's diameter.

Adjusting watering to the recommended suggestions for the tree type and weather conditions is vital. For instance, watering trees during a drought is necessary, and you may need to water more frequently than usual.
