"Two weeks ago, during one of our many violent thunder storms, a large branch snapped off a very health tree in my backyard and was somehow dangling in my neighborâ s tree. With the size and the weighed of the branch it was a little my boggling, why it didnâ t break the tree and fall crashing into my shed and my fence, collapsing both. I thought branches might be ripped off one of my trees, but not that one, it is so healthy. I thought the branches on the tree in the front yard would be ripped off and thrown on my roof breaking my solar panels. The tree nearly 80 feet tall would dance back and forth in the wind, and thought about trimming it, butâ ¦ When I looked at the tree in the back yard, I saw how much it had growth with 6 large branches hanging over my house and my neighborâ s house. I knew something needed to be done, but I didnâ t think it was in my capabilities, at least without breaking something. So, I called and got several bids. Scottâ s Tree Service was the lowest and Josh, the proprietor was very willing to work with me and listen to my ideas. My neighbors use the wood Iâ ve cut before in their fire places and I chip the remains and use them in my garden, as opposed to hauling everything off which is the standard. After looking at the various branches in the backyard and seeing how precariously they hung over the roofs of the houses, Josh decided to contact a crane operator, because it would be much safer less probably of doing damage to objects below, like the roof or the fence, or the AC unit! After spending some time considering all the dynamics of where the tree was, and how far it was from the road. We decided to give it a shot. The work was completed today, and all I can say is oh my God! My anxiety is gone and the menacing branches are down. The work was done quickly, the crew was great and in gear. It might seem a little odd, but it was actually quite entertaining watch the crane and the branches being trimmed from the tree; then watch the crane move the branches from the back yard to front over top the roof. Amazing! Thank you, Josh and Scottâ s Tree Service and Able Crane. Great job. Rev. Patrick M, Oklahoma City, Topping my trees"

"Because of the ice storm n October, we had 4 acres of trees that lost limbs and branches, and sometimes the entire tree. We picked up most of it and piled it all up in one spot in the yard but it was WAY too much to burn. I checked around to see if we could one someone to haul it off but until I checked HomeAdvisor I couldnâ t find anyone. HA recommended B&R. Ron called me almost immediately and set up an appointment to come look at it the same day. He estimated the time and number of loads it would take and gave me an estimate right then. And with a discount! (Iâ m a widow of a veteran.) His crew came out and, though it took 2 days, itâ s all gone. And we can see the yard again! They did an excellent job, and his crew worked the whole time they were here - no â goofing offâ . I would have no qualms about using them again, and highly recommend them."

"I hired this company to help me with some trees that I did not know what to do with. The trees were taking over my backyard. Lawrence came out and helped me make a plan, and gave me a reasonable estimate. His team came out and did a great job, cleaned up after themselves, and even checked with me before leaving. They wanted to make sure that they did everything I wanted them to do. There were no surprise fees or anything. I will be hiring them again."

"Removed a BIG Elm tree from my property that was split in the trunk almost to the ground.  It was not an easy job because it straddled both mine and my neighbor's house.  Clem-Dora did a great job and had zero incidents.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Pruning trees is important for several reasons. It improves tree health and strength by removing dead, diseased, or unwanted branches, which in turn encourages new growth and can help treat disease. For fruit trees, proper pruning can lead to a larger and better-quality harvest. Pruning also enhances safety by removing weak limbs that could break and fall, potentially causing injury or property damage, especially during storms. Beyond these functional benefits, pruning can also improve a tree's appearance. To ensure pruning is done correctly for the tree's long-term health, consider hiring a professional.

Ideally, you’ll have a good enough relationship with your neighbors that you can kindly mention this task in regular conversation. However, every neighbor (and neighborhood) is different. Your best bet will always be to ask directly and nicely, offering to contribute to the tree trimming efforts if you’d like. However, if you are bothered by the tree and your neighbor is unwilling to cut it, you can involve the help of the homeowners’ association or local authorities, if applicable.

You can use herbicides to prevent roots from growing without killing the tree itself, however they must be used with caution. Systemic herbicides are absorbed by the root and can kill off problematic roots. However, herbicides can sometimes negatively impact nearby plants, so the solution is best used sparingly.

Yes, it’s possible to overwater a newly-planted tree. Daily watering is great for the first few weeks, but it’s important not to go overboard. Excessive watering can lead to various problems, including root rot, fungal diseases, and a lack of root development.

Yes, you can prune a palm tree with a chainsaw, but a chainsaw is overkill for a job like this. You risk damaging the tree if you make a bad cut. More commonly, you’ll need pruning shears or a serrated knife to trim a palm tree, or you can use a specialized pruning saw instead of a chainsaw.
