When we realized our tree needed cut down, we were quoted 8,000 dollars to take down my tree by a local company in Norman. Samuel Augustus General contracting was able to remove it for 2000.00. Seriously, folks, he is the guy you want. If in Norman, dont waste your time with local tree service companies; they will destroy your bank account. It can be difficult to determine when a tree should be cut down, but there are a few signs to look out for. Signs include a tree that’s severely leaning to one side, has extensive storm damage, or has a hollow trunk. A standard tree removal doesn’t include stump grinding. If you want your contractor to remove your tree and grind the stump, you must pay an extra charge. That said, you’ll likely save on the cost of stand-alone service—especially if it’s a small tree and they can finish both jobs in a single trip.

If executed correctly your tree should survive after being transplanted to a new spot. However, effective transplanting requires six months, careful root pruning, safe transport to the new location, and replanting in prime soil conditions. You’ll also need an appropriately sized root ball for a complete tree transplant. A good rule of thumb is that, for every inch in diameter, your tree’s root ball needs to be around 11 inches. So a tree with a diameter of six inches needs a root ball of approximately 66 inches.

If you’re wondering why tree trunks are painted white in your area, it’s usually to prevent sunscald, a condition where extreme shifts in temperature can cause tree bark to split. Fruit trees are especially vulnerable to sunscald, so this treatment is worth considering if it’s something that affects your trees.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree. 

Most pros will advise against either of these methods, which is why hiring a pro is often the best choice when it comes to tree trimming.
