"We couldn’t be happier with the job Matt and his team with MAP Construction did on our roof! From start to finish, the team was professional and incredibly detail-oriented. They took the time to answer all our questions and they went above and beyond to ensure the job was done right. The roof looks amazing. "I am very happy with the new roof. Daryl, the sales rep, communicated everything very nicely and made sure that I was given the best option for my roof. Mike, Devan, and Walter were the project managers and they were very helpful throughout the roof install. I wasnâ t able to communicate very well with the roofing crew but the project managers made sure that all of my concerns were taken care of."

"I knew I needed a new roof, i had no idea how bad my roof really was. The inspection that was conducted during the free estimate visit was very thorough. Items that were incorrectly pointed out by competitors were correctly diagnosed and items that I had no clue about were pointed out. The presentation was great. There was no doubt what they felt I needed, what they could offer, and what it would cost. Pictures and videos to go along with it. The install job was perfect. The roof looks great! The crew was respectful of my property and left everything clean and tidy when done. Constant communication during the install with pictures shared online and phone calls when needed. It was great to follow along with the progress while I was at work. I am very happy with their service and would fully recommend Raw Roofing Solutions."

"So let me start by saying...Thomas Evans and Homestyle Home Improvements are A-1 in my book. From the very first encounter with them, they have surpassed my expectations! Thomas's attention to detail and coming through as promised has definitely put him and the company at the top of my list. Everything from installation of the roof to clean-up afterwards and the checking to make sure we were satisfied was spot on! I definitely highly recommend Thomas and Homestyle Home Improvements. From start to finish...2 weeks and that included haggling with the insurance company!! 5 - STAR 🌟"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Tile roofing is durable, fire-resistant, and energy-efficient. It also adds aesthetic appeal and, with proper maintenance, can last 50-100 years.

While the terms are often used interchangeably, wood shakes and wood shingles have notable differences, primarily in their manufacturing and appearance. Wood shingles are machine-cut on both sides, resulting in a smooth, thin, and uniform product. In contrast, wood shakes are typically hand-split or sawed on only one side, giving them a more textured, natural, and rustic appearance. Due to these manufacturing differences, shakes are generally thicker, heavier, and less uniform than shingles. They are also more expensive. Homeowners seeking a more rustic aesthetic often choose shakes, while those preferring a more uniform look may opt for shingles. Both are installed in an overlapping pattern to create a durable, weather-resistant roof.

Gable roof construction can last for 100 years or more without needing structural repairs, although the lifespan depends on your climate. Since gable roofs are great at shedding rain and snow, the actual roofing material on top will last for between 20 and 100 years or more, depending on the material you choose. If you’re unsure that your gable roof is up to par, have a roof inspector take a look.

The roof pitch on a Cape Cod house is normally 8/12 or 10/12, meaning the roof rises 8 to 10 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run. This is steeper than the now-standard 6/12 pitch, as Cape Cod homes were originally popular in northern states, where the steeper pitch helped snowfall slide readily off the roof.

Flat roofs are cost-effective, offer usable space, and are easy to maintain. Foam and single-ply materials provide excellent insulation and durability.
