"SafeStreets’ alarm system is fantastic. The motion sensors, door/window contacts, and cameras work flawlessly. The home automation features are a huge plus—I can control everything from my phone. Highly recommend SafeStreets to anyone looking for reliable security."

"Last weekend had someone pry our side door open to our exterior garage and the ADT door sensor picked it up immediately. The alarm siren was loud and scared the person off. Someone from the response center called within 30 seconds. We’re fortunate that the security system did what it is supposed to. Feels like we made the right call going with an ADT security system."

"Install was easy. Up front cost was pretty low with Angie's List coupon. Monthly price is a little high compared to competing companies. Response time with alarms is excellent. I was advised to use glass break alarms within 10 ft of my first floor windows, which we installed correctly. I asked prior to installation if having one in the kitchen would cause false alarms due to dishes clanging, etc. I was told the glass break alarms are configured to a precise frequency that alarms with breaking glass. So, not a "no", but not really an answer. Well, every time we cook dinner, wash dishes or empty the dish washer, the kitchen glass break alarm gives a warning which would sound the alarm if it was set. This has caused us a number of false alarms while we've been away due to shifting bowls or plates in our drying rack. For the first several we've had to pay our police department $120 to check the house, and I was only notified after the first alarm that there was a cheaper option for a security company to drive by to check for a break in."

"It's all very user friendly and reliable. Jeremy helped get us setup with our new system - he was great, very informative and candid. Larry came out and installed everything, and he was a pleasure. I totally recommend 1st Security USA to anyone in the Washington DC metro area."

"The job went very smoothly. The tech ran a bit late, but he called to say so. He installed a keypad by the front door and assessed the house for security. He suggested, since there are several casement windows in the living room and adjoining dining room that a breaking glass sensor would work better and be more cost-effective than alarming all the windows. He did alarm a door that the previous company (inherited when we bought the house twenty-three years ago) had not considered significant. I feel safer with the current sensor choices than the ones I had before.
He took the time to make sure I knew how to use the system, so I am very pleased with the service. My one caveat: I was told that the motion sensor would not register my smaller pets (two cats) because they weigh under forty pounds. They must have set off the sensor, though, because the police responded. The system certainly alerts the authorities, but that motion sensor is very sensitive!

""What struck me most about Chris was his patience along with his professionalism. I had never used a private detective before and was a little nervous, but he took the time to answer all my questions and explain the process. He was extremely accessible and kept me updated on my case. If you want someone who is professional, courteous, thorough, and who gets the job done right, I highly recommend Chris and CSI Secure Solutions.""

"That's the name I am vaguely familiar with; it's a home security company that is license to ADT franchise or dealer if I am correct.  They were very good.  They were prompt; they were quality.  The individuals move their business.  They were very timely and it was a good experience."

"Yvette Pringle provided courteous and professional feedback to me when I called to inquire about a new home security system.  My situation was unique because we were trying to find something that would work for a deaf person.  I appreciated that Yvette did her research to find out what would work.  She also offered different options in terms of a package and plan.  We did end up going with another company, but I really did want to recognize Yvette for her work.  She was very polite and helpful.

"Called Nate to see about getting a few things done around the house.  He was able to stop by within a day to see exactly what I wanted done; texted me with a quote that same evening. Although he was booked for that week, and I expected we'd have to push to the next week or the week after that (which would have been fine with me - none of the jobs were critical), he was able to make it out late the week to perform the work.  He arrived a little early and set to work.  He patched two holes in the powder room.  I had previously had a tolilet paper holder in the wall, but when I had someone install crown molding in that room, the installer stepped on the tp holder and broke it off from the wall.  It was easier to remove the whole thing and patch the holes than to try to reinstall the tp holder arms.  While the patch work was drying he began working on installing the cat door.  This gave him a little bit of a fit and took more time than I think he anticipated.  But I do think that was because of the quality/design of the cat door itself and had nothing to do with Nate's ability.  I do think the job might have been a little easier if he had had clamps to hold both pieces to each side of the door, but apparently he didn't have any (and neither did I).  In the end, he ended up adding an additional screw to the top of the cat door to make it a little more flush to the door (again, a quality/design issue with the cat door).  It works perfectly fine, although after installation I did end up removing the flap as my cat didn't want anything to do with going in and out of the door with the flap on it.  Without the flap he uses it just fine.  And last but not least, Nate removed an existing light fixture and replaced it with a new one I had purchased.  We had initally agreed on another job of removing an existing and installing a new over the range microwave, but after Nate had removed the old non-working one and taken the new one out of the box, we discovered the new one required venting to the outside of the house (for the range hood part), which is something I don't currently have.  Nate was honest in that he didn't feel comfortable doing that type of work.  So he repacked the new microwave and we called it a day.  I am pleased with Nate's work.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and to use his services again for any basic household repair.  Additionally, I think is pricing is very, very fair.

Security Doors questions, answered by experts

Installing a gate on your property is often a worthwhile investment, despite the initial expense. Gates enhance your home's curb appeal and can increase its property value, making them more attractive to potential homebuyers. They provide significant security benefits by keeping out unwanted guests and increasing privacy for your household. Additionally, a gate can help keep children and pets safely contained in your yard.

For driveway gates, automatic versions are particularly convenient and tend to add more value than manual ones. The choice of gate material also plays a role in both aesthetic appeal and security. Beyond driveways, side gates can improve accessibility to your rear yard, making the outdoor space more usable. Overall, whether for security, safety, or aesthetics, installing a gate is a valuable addition to a property.

A deadbolt differs from a regular lock in its design, construction, and security level. Regular locks are typically used for interior doors, such as for bedrooms and bathrooms, and provide minimal security. They are easy to install and use, often featuring a simple locking mechanism on the inside. In contrast, a deadbolt is one of the most secure locks you can install on an exterior door. Its internal construction is designed to withstand significant force, adding a crucial layer of security that can deter intruders. While deadbolts may be more expensive and complicated to install, they are cost-effective for the security they provide and are built to hold up to wear and tear.

The main difference between different security sensor options is the type of motion each detects. A motion detector monitors obvious movements in hallways, entrances, and exits. On the other hand, a presence detector is more sensitive and captures smaller moves. A window sensor typically focuses on the opening and closing of the window, whereas a glass break sensor alarms you when a glass is broken.

Any type of dead bolt lock provides the highest level of safety for a single device. However, it’s also important to determine a lock's grade. Locks can come in either Grade 1, Grade 2, or Grade 3, which indicates how durable it is and if it’s constructed solidly. Safety experts recommend choosing locks based on Grade 1, which offers the highest level of durability.

Depending on your needs and wants, investing in a security door can be well worth the cost. Now that you know the pros and cons, you can decide if it’s a purchase that makes sense for your family. If you’re ready to have one installed in your home, look into security door installers in your area.
