"We moved about an hour away. We had moved a lot of the small stuff so we used Moving Ahead Services for the heavy stuff like an Elliptical machine, glass table, and washer and dryer. They were on time and came with a positive, pleasant attitude. We had some special requests and they accommodated all of them. Moving is not easy, and they made it as smooth as possible. They were conscientious and didn't leave until everything was to our liking. We were happy we used them and would strongly recommend for any move."

"The crew was knowledgeable, friendly, and stayed on task the entire day. There were enough people to disassemble-reassemble offices while moving and placing file cabinets and office equipment where directed. Tony G guided a well-trained crew and made the move look easy. 2 thumbs way up for everyone. The office staff (Kayla) that coordinated the move were as efficient and very helpful with our tight time- line. Well done. Will recommend to anyone moving."

"They did a great job moving the hot tub.  It took them a total of 30 minutes to get everything done and were very careful not to damage anything. They drove out in the rain and took the chance that it would stop just enough to get the hot tub moved to hold the date that they committed to.  It did stop raining and they worked well to get the 7x7' hot tub moved off of a 4 foot deck.  They were very courteous and easy to work with.  I would definitely hire JM movers again in the future."

"Damien was a pleasure to work with.  Before the move, he provided professional quotes via email, which clearly outlined what I was paying for and what kind of insurance was provided.  The moving crew showed up on time, and they were friendly and courteous.  They moved some very heavy, bulky and awkward pieces of furniture for me.  They did it all without damaging my furniture (including a piano) and without damaging either of the two houses involved.  They were quiet, too, which mainly matters because the move was scheduled for so early on a Saturday morning.  They completed the move in much less time than I had anticipated.  Everything went smoothly.  Afterwards, Damien even gave me some pointers on hooking up my washer/dryer and some other really useful tips!  I would definitely use them again in the future and will recommend them to others. "

"Tyler, Dakota and Tazar were very professional. I was amazed at their ability to move this piano with relative ease and how careful they were in doing so. They were all very amiable. I would definitely use them again and would recommend their services. The move went exceptionally well!"

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

The first step to choosing a relocation company is determining the distance of your move, types of services needed, and how many professional movers you need to hire. Once you set the parameter of your move, get price quotes from at least three local moving companies to compare pricing. Then, choose a relocation company that fits within your budget, supplies the necessary services, and has positive reviews from previous moving customers.

It’s not required. Some treadmills aren’t designed for dismantling, so you’ll need to move in one piece. Others can be quickly disassembled and reassembled, so taking them apart is a great way to save on space and make the move easier. Consult your treadmill’s user manual for more information and to find the best option.

Qualified piano movers will take several steps to protect your piano from damage during the move. First, they'll wrap the piano to protect its finish. Ideally, they'll wrap the piano in a specialized blanket that features a soft, padded interior and a tougher exterior.

After wrapping your piano, the movers will securely strap it to a dolly for safe transport to and from the moving truck. Once the piano is in the truck, movers might put the piano on a piece of plywood to help level it during the move, depending on the truck bed. They will then strap it in place so it doesn't shift around during the drive to your final destination.

There are different types of moving companies, and you’ll want to look for one that has experience moving houses. Ask them how many houses they’ve moved, how long they’ve been in business, whether they coordinate all of the labor, permits, and subcontractors needed, and what their liability is for any damages incurred.

A DIY move is cheaper than paying movers. However, hiring professional movers can save you time and stress.
