"Overall I am pleased with the work performed by Davor. I had to open my ceiling to fix a plumbing leak so I needed someone to repair the hole. Instead of patching the hole I wanted to have the knock down on the entire ceiling in my dining room skimmed, replace the drywall that was removed due to the leak, and then new knockdown applied. I requested a quote from five companies and only three even responded back to my request. Of those three that did respond Davor (Duno LLC) was by far the most responsive to my inquiries as well as providing a timely price quote. When it came time to perform the work Davor was kept his schedule and was very professional throughout the entire experience. If able I would give his overall grade as a B+ as there were some minor things that kept me from grading the work as an A. The work was well done, however I noticed some small areas (Usually by a corner) that had very little knockdown texture once it dried, not noticeable by visitors but something that I can tell. Also he tried hard to keep the areas clean (its messy work) but I did have to spend about 5 to 10 minutes after each texture application cleaning up walls, counters, etc. Overall I would use this company again in the future and would recommend Duno LLC to provide Drywall and or ceiling repair services for your home/business. You can apply plaster over plaster, but before you do, check the stability of the existing plaster. If it’s been there for a while, it may require a base coat of PVA emulsion. This will make the existing plaster less porous and ensure the new and old plaster adhere properly.

Generally, your homeowner’s insurance might only cover ceiling collapses caused by problems under the coverage, such as a busted pipe. But if the ceiling collapse resulted from owner negligence, maintenance issues, or other reasons excluded by your policy, you could be on your own. Some policies might cover damages caused by the collapse but not the repair itself. Check with your policy carrier for the most accurate information regarding ceiling collapse coverage.

Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly. 

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.
