"The section to be replaced was fairly large.  A five man crew showed up early on the agreed day and was done by 3 pm.  Everyone was efficient and polite.  We couldn't have asked for more.  Atlas was honest.  The estimator tried to fix the problem with caulk or sealer at no charge a few months earlier but the fix didn't work.  It turned out that a section of the wood underneath the shingles had started to rot.  We are delighted with the work.

"Straight up company did what they said and did it well. Scheduling was easy. Wish they came out to look at the job first though, because I had to take a day off only to find that I had to have some irrigation lines moved before they could do the install...so that was a wasted day. Once they came back (on the day they said, and right on time) they worked non-stop to complete the job. they put up plastic to keep the mess down in my basement. They cleaned the exterior walls where the masonry saw threw some block dust on my siding. they backfilled the hole well and really tried to clean up the area well, building up a nice slope to the well and spreading the soil neatly. They took pictures of the job so they want it all to look good. The caulking they use around the window took a long time to cure (perhaps because the temperature was in the 40's -50's) so be careful about that. If they had gotten the well another 1/2 inch deeper the well cover mounting flange would have fit under the edge of the siding on the wall. I wish they had checked for that. Instead they just mounted it on top of the siding and caulked it. I don't think that the 2 screws they mounted it with are biting really well either. This is my only real complaint. Everything else was great!"

"A large window in my home was cracked from top to bottom and I needed it replaced. I called other companies and they were either booked out a week or would need to order the glass. Window Gurus came out the next day for a quote and the window was installed the very next day after that! The techs we're very polite and professional and had the job done in less than an hour. The price was right we're the other companies I contacted was so they are priced competitively. I will definitely use them again if I need another window replacement."

"We needed a new roof on our house, and we decided to use HomeAdvisor to get few bids with hopes that we can find the best price that won't break our arms and legs. "Ricky Waller" was the second person to give us a call but he was the first person to show up to give us the estimate. We never regretted hiring Coldstream Exteriors, they did a great and fantastic job, and it was done ahead of the snow storm that just hit Saint Louis! "Ricky" is very cool and very professional and so knowledgeable of what he's doing and was always available and quick in solving issues. We highly recommend Coldstream Exteriors! We love the new color on our roof! Great job!!! Thanks!!!"

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

You can use hot, soapy water, white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, window cleaner, nail polish remover, WD-40, and cooking oil to remove glass labels. You can also apply heat with a hair dryer or steam cleaner. Use a plastic scraper or credit card to remove the adhesive, as a razor blade can permanently scratch your glass.

Glass block windows come in various patterns and styles that offer privacy and unique aesthetics. Frosted or textured glass diffuses light and enhances privacy. Wave-pattern glass blocks imitate ocean waves with flowing lines. Ice-glass blocks resemble cracked ice. Fluted glass blocks feature parallel vertical grooves, adding texture and depth. Clear glass blocks, similar to glass Coke bottles, offer transparency with some distortion and may have smooth surfaces or subtle textures, adding visual interest.

The best (and safest) glass for glass walls is tempered and laminated glass. These types of glasses work well for walls because they are durable against impact and heat.

Whether it's better to repair or replace a broken mirror depends on its size, value, and the extent of the damage. For small, inexpensive mirrors, replacement is often the better choice, as the average repair cost of around $200 can be close to the price of a new one. However, for large mirrors—like those over a bathroom vanity or large floor mirrors—repair is usually more cost-effective. A new large mirror can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars, while repairs typically range from $50 to $200. You should also consider the mirror's age and sentimental value. Antique mirrors and family heirlooms are often priceless and irreplaceable, making repair the most sensible or only option.

Once you’ve gotten any scuff marks, grime, and burn marks off your glass stovetop you can use vinegar to finalize the clean without leaving streaks. Just put some white vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz it onto the stovetop before wiping it in a consistent direction with a microfiber cloth.
