"After 23 years as a customer I will absolutely never do business with anything even associated with Dish Network. About 1 1/2 years ago my Reciever DVR started acting up real bad I called Dish Network and they had a repairman come and he replaced my broken equipment with the Hopper and Joey, little did I know that they were locking me into a 2 year contract for the new equipment "NEVER EXPLAINED TO ME" so roll forward to a couple months ago I was able to upgrade my internet from 3mb to 100mb making streaming a real option. So I decided to call and Terminate my Services because I liked the streaming service better. Well the Agent "never told me that I was under contract" talked me into putting my account on standby just incase I didn't like the steaming services. Fair enough, I waited a few months and decided to call back and Terminate my Services only to find out that I am under contract. The Agent tried to tell me that I would have to wait 8 months before I could cancel. She offered to lower my bill from the $120+ I was paying a month to $59 and so much but, but, but from them. Finally I was told after asking that I could buy out the remainder of my Contract for $20 for each month remaining for a total of $160 I took this option. Just hate that it took me several disconnect callbacks and nearly 3 hours to get my Service canceled. They really made me mad, can't believe that I was treated as I was after being a customer for so many years."

Satellite TV Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, most services include necessary hardware like anchors, screws, and wall brackets, though custom shelving may require specific mounting materials.

This depends on your provider, but generally, no you do not have to return your dish satellite once you’ve canceled your service. Your best bet is to take the dish to an appropriate recycling center, arrange for a junk removal service to come pick it up, or even rent a dumpster.

You can still get internet without a coax outlet through cellular wireless networks, mobile hotspots, or a satellite internet connection. In the case of a satellite internet connection, your satellite will transmit a signal to your router without a coaxial outlet or fiber optic cable.

Yes, most services include signal testing and adjustments for optimal performance.

A satellite dish should face south with a view unobstructed by trees, branches, leaves, buildings, or other structures or objects. The optimal angle offset is between 22.3 degrees and 17.3 degrees. Any more or less of an angle can disrupt or disconnect the cable signal from the satellite sources to the south. The dish should be tightly secured to the metal rod or structure so that weather doesn’t cause it to tip or tilt out of the optimal angle offset.
