"Malik from Neighborhood Pest Control was great to work with. He came out the same day, found where the raccoons were getting in, and sealed it up after removing them. Haven’t heard a sound since. Great service and a really nice guy."

"This crew was so friendly, and so professional. "Graham" was the name of the sweep that arrived here. They ran a camera all the way up the inside of my chimney, and found a hole where someone apparently had vented something else into it in the past. Smoke, sparks and heat could have got into my attic if they had not found this. They might have saved us from a very bad situation! They also installed a cap to keep animals out, filled in a small hole in our fireplace wall, and put our damper plate back on track."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

If a wild animal enters your yard, prioritize safety for yourself and the animal. Remember to avoid direct contact and always keep a safe distance. Contact local authorities or a wildlife rehabilitation center if the animal is hurt or in distress. Both sources should be able to guide you on how to proceed and send help if needed. Please wait for the animal to leave naturally for non-threatening situations, as many will. To deter future visits, implement measures like securing trash cans, sealing entry points, and removing potential food sources.

Woodpeckers may seek out homes with aluminum siding or tin roofs because these surfaces echo their drumming. Homes with wood siding are more frequently targeted as roosting areas or for food sources. If you have insects living in the exposed wood in your home, the birds are likely looking for a snack, in which case your best option is to hire an exterminator.

Finding a dead bat in your home can be frightening, even during spooky season. The United States Department of Interior states that if you find a dead bat, take these steps:

  • Contact your state wildlife agency to report the finding

  • Photograph the bat safely to help the wildlife agency determine the species

  • Use disposable gloves to place the bat into a plastic bag, making sure to spray with disinfectant and close the bag securely

  • Thoroughly clean your hands and any clothing that came into contact with the bat

If you see one dead bat, you might have a large bat infestation that needs to be treated immediately. Call a local pest control company to properly inspect your home for other bats.

Numerous predators kill hornets, including frogs, birds, lizards, bats, spiders, and hedgehogs. Some larger predators, including rats, skunks, and racoons, will occasionally attack a hornet nest in order to eat the larvae inside. These natural predators typically don’t eat enough hornets to make them an effective form of hornet control.

Woodpeckers peck at the break of dawn and take a break whenever the sun is not shining. On sunny days, expect pecking from dawn to dusk. On cloudy days, expect sporadic pecking when the sun peeks through. These birds are most active in the spring; you’ll hear them drumming as soon as the weather turns warm.
