Customers say: True professional

"Dave is a great plumber. Dave is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He even brings cookies at Christmas time. Does your plumber do that? I am always pleasantly surprised when I receive his bill. Owning a 100 year old home brings different challenges. Dave is a master at 100 year old plumbing."

"This is the first time I used Wyatt Works and could not be more pleased. Edward arrived on time and was very professional and knowledgeable. He made sure I was a satisfied customer and happy with the work performed before he left. I would give Edward and Wyatt Works more than 5 stars if I could, and they will definitely be my first and only call for any future plumbing needs I may need."

"Nathan was/is a consummate professional in all aspects of my project (basement remodel with rough ins for bathroom, laundry room and kitchen/bar). His quote was fair and reasonable, he s the most courteous, personable and friendly contractor I ve ever worked with. The quality of work is top notch and he shared information about his processes with me throughout his work; explaining materials and mechanisms. I absolutely recommend Nathans s Plumbing for any and all of you plumbing needs, big or small. This guy rocks."

"Tri-County Electric Services was able to send a plumber out the next day to provide estimates for a few projects in my home. Chris M. arrived at my home and was professional, knowledgable, straight forward, and friendly. He quoted me fair prices to install a new toilet and new kitchen faucet, both of which I had previously purchased independently and had at home ready to install. I was very happy that he was able to complete the installs that day. He also fixed a minor leak below a bathroom sink. All around a great experience! I will definitely hire them again for future plumbing needs. Chris explained that the company recently added a plumbing division to complement their electric services. Thank you for a job well done!"

"This was probably one of the best experiences I have EVER had hiring a plumber. Romito's plumbing was a breath of fresh air. My husband is particular and has been known to send repair people away before they even finish the job, but this was not the case with Romito's plumbing. Gio was knowledgable, customer oriented and willing to explain all options prior to the installation of our new toilet. He checked components as he worked, disposed of the old toilet, cleaned up the entire area. His price was fair and worth every penny. If you are in need of a plumber please do yourself a favor and Contact Romito's plumbing You won't be disappointed. https://www.romitoplumbing.com/"

Plumbing FAQs, answered by experts

No—you should always shut off the power and the water supply to the tank. Shutting off the water ensures that your water heater won’t continuously refill while you are trying to drain it, which would likely cause a big mess! Make sure to allow the hot water to cool completely before continuing the process of draining the heater.

To drain a broken toilet, place towels or plastic sheeting around the base in case of splashing or overflowing. Next, shut off the toilet’s water supply, usually via a valve on the wall behind the toilet. Begin flushing the handle to remove as much water as possible from the tank and the bowl. Don’t flush the toilet if it’s clogged, though. From there, use a large sponge to soak up any remaining water and wring it over a bucket.

You can remove air from your shower pipes in a few simple steps. Turn off the water at the main water supply and open all the faucets in your home, starting with those closest to the water supply and working away from those. Let the faucets run dry, then flush all the toilets in your home until there is no more water in them. From there, turn the water supply back on and let it flow for 10 to 15 minutes until the sputtering stops. To finish, turn off your faucets and flush your toilets in the reverse order.

Installing a bathroom in a basement isn’t a project for most homeowners. Many parts—plumbing, electricity, and carpentry—go into this project, each requiring expert-level knowledge and tools. One miscalculation can lead to very expensive repairs. Plus, some homeowner’s insurance might not pay for damages caused by a homeowner DIYing this project. You can protect yourself by allowing the pros to complete this job for you.

After flushing the toilet, you should have about half a tank full of water. While the exact amount of water you’ll have will vary, you want to make sure you have enough to cover the bottom of the bowl and enough to sit above the P-trap drain. While low water in your toilet bowl can indicate a problem, too much water can also be cause for concern.
