"We got an egress put in. The awesome experience started with Doug McIntire coming over to explain the product and the process. Doug was so professional, knowledgeable and just made us feel like the decision to go with them was a no-brainer. We then got scheduled for mid-April but asked to be on the waiting list to have the install done sooner if a spot opened up. Luckily one did and we got moved up 2 months!! The crew said that they would be here around 8:30-9:00am on 2/10/21 and they got here at 8:30am...right on time! The team was led by Tyler who did such an awesome job with the team. The rest of the team was Alex, Eric, Justin and Daniel (the hole digger)...sorry if I missed someone. One of the guys brought up our garbage can from the end of the driveway. Everyone worked so well together and Tyler not only did the work too, he also was teaching each of them. We are so happy with the work and the experience we had! I really enjoyed the experience and I would definitely recommend Ohio Basement Systems to anyone!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Johua Gest removed and installed our old garage floor, as well as an entry way floor which we had removed and he replaced. Following that job, we later contracted for his company to replace our gravel drive with concrete. We would not hesitate to recommend his services."

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

To find and hire a reputable contractor for an egress window installation, you should first research local professionals and then vet your top candidates. Start by searching for local contractors who specialize in this type of work, read their customer reviews, and examine their website and portfolio. Once you have a shortlist, contact them to ask key questions: Are you licensed and insured? What is your specific experience installing egress windows? Can you provide references from previous customers? Do you perform the work yourself or use subcontractors? What is the estimated project timeline and your current schedule? How do you handle payment?

Yes, you can install a bay window in an existing house. You’ll need to have a structural engineer draw up plans to add the necessary support to your exterior load-bearing walls and a general contractor to make the changes to the framing around the new wall opening. This will cost an average of $3,000. After that work is done, a window installer can set the new bay window in place.

DIY is possible for experienced individuals. Professional installation ensures compliance with building codes and proper sealing.

You install a window well 8 to 12 inches deeper than the base of the window sill. After filling the well with drainage rock, the well should sit 3 inches below the bottom of the window. The top of the window well should also be at least 3 inches higher than the surface-grade ground. The window well should be about 6 inches wider than the window opening.

Yes, egress windows are grandfathered. However, this comes with some specifications. If you are remodeling a basement or adding a sleeping area, you’ll need to update the egress windows to be up to proper code. But, if you’re leaving your home as is, you do not have to adhere to these requirements.
