"I can’t say enough about Leaders Moving and Storage of Cleveland. General manager Danny Yonkof, and his team, were so easy to work with. Communication was great every step of the way. They moved us out of our townhome, stored our belongings for 2 months, and moved us into our new home. When we needed to change our move in date, they were very accommodating. I highly recommend Danny and would hire him again for all my moving needs. Thank you Cori, Rob, Chris, Ray, Thomas and Randy for a job well done!"

Moving questions, answered by experts

It’s typically not advisable to move heavy furniture by yourself. However, if you are confident that you can do it safely, there are several different tools you can use, including a hand truck, a four-wheel dolly, or an appliance dolly. If you’re moving furniture upstairs or downstairs, a hand truck is the most suitable choice. Regardless of what you choose to use, always ensure that the furniture is well-balanced and secure by using lifting straps or tie-down straps to keep it in place.

Yes, you can use a dolly to move a treadmill, though you won't always need one. If your treadmill has wheels and you’re moving it to a different location on the same floor, you can likely skip the dolly. But if you’re moving it up a flight of stairs or to a new home, a dolly can help you move it more easily.

Building a house is generally more expensive upfront than moving an existing one. However, the total cost depends on factors such as location, size, materials, labor, and permits. Moving a house can incur significant expenses for transportation, permits, site preparation, and renovations. On the other hand, building a new house allows for customization and may have lower long-term maintenance costs.

The number of boxes you need to move depends on the size of their house and whether your style is minimalist or maximalist. However, on average, most people need around 60 boxes to move. It’s essential to pick the correct box sizes to ensure efficient packing.

When loading a moving truck, the general rule is to load the heaviest and largest items first to create a stable base at the front of the truck, which helps balance the weight. You can start with large furniture like sofas, beds, mattresses, and tables to form a solid foundation, or begin by placing your heaviest boxes against the truck's walls to create a base layer. After the base is set, continue loading other large items like appliances and square furniture. Lighter and smaller objects, including most of your boxes, should be loaded last. They can be packed into gaps, around, and on top of the heavier items to maximize space. Following this order makes unloading easier and helps prevent damage to your belongings.
