"100% without reservation would I recommend this company. We had a bathtub overflow and flood the upstairs bathroom and ceiling and walls of first floor (living room and kitchen). I called multiple companies to come and give me a quote. 1-800-Flooded was at my house before any other company even bothered to call me back. They took the time to walk me through their process and answered all my questions. I wanted multiple quotes and told them I would contact them later one way or another. In the end we decided to go with 1-800-Flooded and scheduled a time window for them to return. Their technician called me later to know his approximate arrival time. When they showed up they set up their equipment quickly and took care to not add to the damage (wearing booties, carefully bringing in and setting up equipment, etc.). Every step of the way they were professional, courteous, and really took the time to explain everything to us. The job was done extremely well and we couldn't be happier with their service (despite the circumstances--nobody WANTS to hire a water remediation company). I hope I never have to use their services again but if necessary they will be the only company I call."

"They did a great job. On time, professional , knowledgeable and efficient. The cleaned my 20 foot dryer vent and now my dryer works even better. Checked all the smoke detectors explained how they work and how long they are good for. The same with the co2 detectors. He also explained about the fire extinguishers and which one are the best for which room. I will defiantly have them come back again next year for the yearly inspection.

Water and Smoke Damage Repair questions, answered by experts

The first step is removing water or chemical residue, if applicable, after extinguishing. Next, your professional will clean up soot, remove damaged materials, treat the smoke damage, and complete any necessary structural repairs. After that, your pro will begin the build-back process and install finishes to restore your home to its previous condition.

Hard materials like glass, metal, and hardwood floors, washable fabrics, and undamaged electrical appliances can often be salvaged after a fire, although it depends on the extent of the damage. For washable fabrics, make sure to use a phosphate mix during the washing process to extract the smoke smell. There are a few things you should throw away after a fire, like canned foods and cosmetics, even if they don’t look like they’re damaged.

Yes, carpets should be replaced after a house fire or significant smoke damage, even if they appear undamaged. Smoke, soot, particulates, and chemicals can penetrate deep into the carpet fibers and padding, making complete removal a complicated and time-consuming process. If water was used to extinguish the fire, it can also soak through the carpet and padding, creating a risk of mold and mildew growth. Due to these challenges and potential health risks, replacing the carpet is the safest and most effective solution.

DIY is not recommended due to the complexity and potential structural issues. Hire professionals for thorough and safe repairs.

Neglecting to clean your chimney can lead to serious safety hazards. A primary risk is the buildup of creosote, a highly flammable substance that can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire. This buildup can also create blockages in the flue, resulting in poor venting of smoke, soot, and toxic gases like carbon monoxide, which can then enter your home and create dangerously poor indoor air quality. Additionally, creosote is acidic and can damage the chimney's mortar and metal components over time, potentially allowing smoke to leak into your house. To prevent these issues, it is essential to schedule an annual chimney cleaning with a professional.
