"We chose Gilbert's (Lennox) for our replacement central A/C. They were highly recommended by a friend and a neighbor. They were right!! We had gotten 4 estimates before hiring Gilbert's. Their price was the best! Their yearly service/maintenance contract is lower than their competitors. Todd and associates are professional, questions were answered, and any hiccup was addressed and resolved in a timely manner. Two thumbs up!!!"

"Scott and Bemer were here at my home today to give me an estimate on a large bathroom remodel. The project would also involved changing the drain and hooking up a new gas line. Both gentlemen were very professional arrived at my house five minutes before my scheduled appointment. Communicated with me through text messaging, which is how I preferred so I would know when they were coming. Their pick up truck was visually marked with their logo as well as their phone number. The project will begin probably within a two month range at my request. Based on today’s visit, they will be hired and I will submit another review after the project is completed."

"No more leaks so far, but it has only been a couple weeks since the repair was made. I rated the customer service, but have not had any reason to test what the service would be like if I had a problem arise with the work that was performed."

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

Pipefitting is a more specialized profession, and pipefitters work with complex systems and low- and high-pressure pipes, so it can be considered harder than plumbing. Though each profession comes with its challenges, the nature of pipefitting requires working with heavier materials in fast-paced and dangerous environments, which can be more challenging than working on residential and commercial plumbing systems.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.

Fixing a gas line or a gas leak can take anywhere from one hour to several days, depending on the location, accessibility, and complexity of the problem. A simple, easily accessible fix may take one to two hours, while a more complex project like repairing an underground gas line can take several days to complete. A gas line specialist or plumber can provide an accurate time estimate after evaluating the situation. If your city's utility company is handling the repair, it will likely provide information on when to expect gas service to be restored.

There isn’t a way to convert electric fireplaces easily or cheaply to gas. The process requires major renovations, as opposed to wood fireplaces, which are often already vented and have space for the gas-burning equipment. To convert an electric fireplace to gas, you’d need to remove your old fireplace and get a completely new install.

Yes, it’s possible to cap a gas line yourself if you’re no longer using it or are simply going out of town for an extended period of time. It’s essential to follow the steps on properly capping a gas line yourself. If you’re uncomfortable with any of the steps, you may want to bring in a natural gas plumber for added reassurance.
