"We called One Earth Pest Control on a Saturday related to a concern we had regarding a possible small rodent entering our home. Nick (who is the owner) answered the phone and was very polite and professional in answering my many questions. He came out the next morning (on a Sunday) to conduct a free inspection. He was very courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. He suggested a solution that we could take care of ourselves for minimal cost. He is very honest and ethical. If we ever have any pest control issues in the future, he will be the only one we call. He is exceptional!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

One of the most widespread chemicals used for killing termites is Fipronil. It’s one of the most common insecticides used by termite exterminators to kill termites fast. However, it’s toxic and generally used in outdoor areas only. Popular brand names of termite killers include Taurus, Bifen, Termidor, and BioAdvanced. All insecticides have pros and cons: Some are safer around humans but don’t last as long. Some may kill nearby plants or have power odors. Some are designed for safe indoor bait stations but take much longer to work.

Dying trees and even dead trees can spread diseases to other living trees. There are many different types of tree diseases, so it’s essential to address the issue as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading to other healthy trees. If the tree cannot be saved and is infected, you need to have it removed to protect the other trees on your property.

When baiting an iguana trap, several items should be avoided. Do not use poisonous baits, such as those intended for rats or mice. This practice is often illegal, is unlikely to attract iguanas, and poses a significant risk to pets or other wildlife. Additionally, avoid using herbs, fruits, and vegetables that are toxic to iguanas, such as fresh sage, rosemary, avocados, and eggplants. While ripe fruit can be an effective bait, be sure to remove any pits or seeds from fruits like apples, pears, and peaches, as they are highly toxic. Finally, steer clear of citrus fruits, which act as a natural deterrent.

Aphid infestations happen when aphid-attracting plants like mustard and nasturtium are present, there’s a lack of predators, or plants are weak. Avoid plants that aphids love, and consider increasing natural predators that keep aphids at bay. Birds, wasps, and ladybugs play roles in balancing out aphid infestations, so add pollinator plants and habitats to your yard that attract birds and other aphid predators.

Yes, bats can cause quite a bit of damage to the attic. Their weight and movement from flying around can damage insulation, and they can chew through wiring and the walls. As if this isn’t enough, they leave their droppings throughout, which carry harmful bacteria and is dangerous for humans to breathe in, not to mention the extremely foul-smelling odor.
