Inspector Jim did a wonderful job going through every nook and cranny of the house. He went over everything with me and answered very specific questions about some problem areas. He was there before me and worked quickly and efficiently through all of his checkpoints. This inspector was vastly knowledgeable about houses and construction. This gave me a sound basis for deciding to go through with the house purchase. I'd hire again in a minute. Great job!

This is my first home purchase. They were quite accommodating with my request for someone accustomed to older houses. Keith was happy to walk me through the house with his observations. I truly felt he had my better interests in mind. I feel he gave me a truly realistic assessment of the home. I'm also very happy I opted for the additional infrared assessment.

We had several inspections performed home we are purchasing: home, infrared and wood destroying insects inspections. All three inspections were very thorough, the reports easy to understand and the documentation was delivered electronically very quickly after the inspections were complete. During the house inspection, Steve was very thorough and did a great job of explaining what he was looking for as he conducted the inspection. We would definitely use Seagate Inspections again.

The home inspector was onsite 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment. Steve was very friendly, and professional. When completing the inspection he walk us through his findings, and pointed out some things the needed repairing. I have used Seagate Inspection in the past, and I would recommend them to anyone needing a home inspection.

It went so well on the first house we were going to purchase that we hired them to inspect the second house we were going to purchase. They are one of the only companies in the area to have Infrared Thermograph that helps detect water problems through walls. Both inspectors took their time inspecting the house. They would point out issues to us as they discovered them. At the end of the inspection they went through the report, line by line, while we were still at the house. We received the email report the same day. They were great to work with!

it went ok ,I think the inspector overlooked a few things, like possible water penetration points. Focused on visual repairs more than hidden repairs. but he was pretty thorough.

A bit disappointed with the thermal imaging report. Was told during review of the final report that adding an additional picture would require the entire report to have to be redone. In hindsight I should have specifically told the Inspector that I wanted the floor to ceiling crack in the basement wall documented for water leakage. Visual inspection showed no concern but I would have felt better with the thermal documentation. Repairs are generally listed in likelihood of happening (probability) and a range when such a repair might happen, say under 5 years or over. In my inspection the roof had a high probability of needing maintenance within 5 years. I read the report as I had a few years remaining before a major expense. My Realtor, on his own, decided to call a trusted roofing contractor who said the roof was shot and needed to be replaced sooner rather than later. We will get the roof replaced this summer, due in large part to my Realtor's diligence.

We were very happy with every inspector that came to inspect. Bert was fabulous. He knew what to look for and checked every place he could. Joe Johnson, the Infrared Thermographer and Mold expert was great. He was very knowledgable and answered any questions we had. Bill Barnes, who handled the radon test was excellent and so was the gentleman that performed the pest inspection.

The people in the office scheduling were very helpful as well. These guys are all VERY professional and we were very pleased with their performance.

Inspector was on time and professional spent about four hours inspecting house. He did walk the roof which not all companies do. Did uncover a major problem in the crawl space which had standing water evidence of prior water and some rotting sills. The only complaint I had is that due to the water in the crawl which was a few inches deep he did not inspect a portion of the crawl which was of particular concern due to some observations on the outside of the home. I asked if they finish this part of the inspection when the crawl dried they would for an additional charge. They were already on the high side for local inspectors and charge the full price even if they cannot access all areas for inspection. We ended up walking away from the deal. Contacted them about 10 days later as we were looking to get another house inspection asked if they could give a discount for repeat customers and in light of the prior incomplete inspection. They said no discounts and we chose another company.

Took about 4  hrs to do inspection on large (3400 sq ft) duplex with detached 4 car garage in OWE. Pest inspection was definately worth it, termites were discovered in garage with no signs of infestation in house.
House inspection very through, learned a few things about fixing plaster bubbles, identification of old and new wiring, cleaning mild mold stains on wood, taking care of an asbestos cement roof, and many more very small, homeowner type issues.
I recieved a 34 pg report via cd (not very useful - who has a cd-rom drive anymore?) and as an email link to a site that hosted the pdfs (very useful, able to send it to my folks back home and one of my close friends so that they could see what I was getting into.)
Seagate is not the cheapest in Toledo, but from my experience they a probably the best.

For the cost of $600, I potentially saved approximately $40,000 of future expenses and hundreds of hours of effort. After chasing many homes in a sellers market in Perrysburg and Maumee, I had an offer accepted on a 680 square foot house on a lovely street in a beautiful neighborhood in Perrysburg which I hoped would have potential to improve. Guided by the reviews on Angie's list and the recommendations of co-workers, I called Seagate for information. The person I spoke with was very helpful explaining the different levels of inspections available, and the discounts for selecting multiple services. I ordered four of the services and declined the radon inspection. On the day of the inspection, the primary inspector showed up on time, was very pleasant, and began the process of inspection the property right away. I followed him around the outside and inside of the house, asking questions every step of the way which he gladly answered. After a short time, the pest inspector, infrared inspector, and the carbon monoxide inspector arrived. Each one introduced themselves and began to perform their duties. If I asked questions, each and every one of them were very responsive with answers. When each inspector finished their inspection, I was given a detailed explanation of what they found and some possible remedies while being guided through their individual reports on their laptops. Each of them cleaned up and headed on to the next appointment. All reports were emailed in pdf form for later download. Weeks prior to the day of the inspections, during a showing with the real estate agent, I found the house to need some cracks filled, painting inside and out, and the garage roof to re-shingled which I requested to be repaired by the sellers. Good thing I hired Seagate inspections. They found Vermiculite in the attic which has a high likelihood of Asbestos, rotting structure beams, rotting sill plate, rotting joists, rotting floor boards, the main electrical panel in a kitchen cabinet, Powder post beetles, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, mold in the crawl space, bowing walls, heating units that did not function, and dozens of other issues. Since the sellers refused to fix the issues or lower the price from full retail, I cancelled the offer and began the house search again. This was a great education for me in some of the things to look out for in a house. I will definitely hire Seagate Inspections again.

Overall I was very happy with my inspector.  He encouraged me to go through the house with him, which I was impressed with because he was definitely willing to explain everything to me and even how to fix the minor things he found.  I never felt like I was intruding on his work etc.  The inspection was very thorough, and I received an immediate report of his findings along with photographs.  The whole process took a couple of hours, but it was well worth it from the standpoint of knowing what I was purchasing.

The inspector was very thorough, and even took color photographs for anything he thought needed addressed. He had everything on a laptop and did the report as he was doing the inspection. Right when he was done, he was able to email me the report right then, there was no delay.

I had ordered a whole house inspection for a house I was looking to buy. The inspector was there on time and ready. He was there for over 3 hours and checked everything. I was very pleased and impressed with all he had gone through. I did not end up buying the house because of what he found.
