"The estimate was a good discussion. He's an Arborist which was really helpful. The work was fast and the next day. The workers friendly and responsive to a request I made. They cleaned up the yard well. Looking forward to the stump-grinding which is scheduled. Thank you very much!"

"Set Apart Tree Service is now our go to tree service. They do an outstanding job and are very knowledgeable! We have spoken to our neighbors about them and we will be giving them more work in the spring. Further, our neighbors will most likely join with us and do their work and ours at the same time. On top of the top notch work, they are very nice!"

"Excellent job. Consulted with me every step along the way. The team even picked up a stack of small branches and chipped them for me. Would definitely hire them again."

"Excellent service. The job was done on time and for the price quoted. The deck area and planter look beautiful. The workers were professional and courteous and once the job was started it was diligently continued until completion. We had a particular time frame in which we really wanted it completed by and Eli was especially accommodating to make sure it happened. We would highly recommend them."

"An excellent contractor. They responded to my request for a quote the same day. Rich answered all of my questions and went over everything they would do to take care of removing many very large tree limbs and one dead ash tree. All personnel arrived on site even a little before schedule and got right to work. Rich and his employees are extremely skilled and personable. The whole process was very smooth, pretty quiet ( considering the type of work ) and they left the work areas spotless. It is so hard to find a great contractor so I wanted to write a review for others in need of a professional tree service."

"Second job he has done for us and as before very efficient and had plenty of help. Knows his stuff and has excellent safety measures place for all his workers. I would highly recommend. He had to have a crane at one of the sites and got into a very small space between houses. I would have him do any job"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Pruning trees is important for several reasons. It improves tree health and strength by removing dead, diseased, or unwanted branches, which in turn encourages new growth and can help treat disease. For fruit trees, proper pruning can lead to a larger and better-quality harvest. Pruning also enhances safety by removing weak limbs that could break and fall, potentially causing injury or property damage, especially during storms. Beyond these functional benefits, pruning can also improve a tree's appearance. To ensure pruning is done correctly for the tree's long-term health, consider hiring a professional.

Getting a tree pro with the right experience can be the difference between your transplanted tree surviving or not. When hiring a local tree transplanting and removal service, follow up on references, check their portfolio, ask for a breakdown of the costs, and get proof of liability and workers’ compensation insurance.

Also, look for companies certified by the International Society of Arboriculture or registered with the Tree Care Industry Association and make sure they have an appropriate state or city license.

It depends on where you live—but in most areas, leaves begin falling in September and continue falling until January or February. Warmer regions, such as Southern states, may see leaves fall a bit later in the calendar year. It also depends on the type of trees in your yard and their maturity.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

Stay inside or well away until the storm passes. Don’t go outside to inspect the tree until the weather clears, especially if the tree is on a hill or isolated in a field. Lightning often strikes the same easily-accessed places multiple times, and you could be a new target. If a lightning strike causes a noticeable fire, alert emergency services. When the storm is over, take a closer look to gauge the damage done.
