"Excellent work and very professional. Our front and back yard was well maintained all spring and summer. They also did a great one time landscaping job of our front yard and left it very clean, and nicely trimmed. Would recommend for any yard/landscaping job!"

Small jobs welcome

"They worked with me to design and install landscaping which was exactly what I was hoping for even though I don't have a clue when it comes to plants. The work was done on time and it transformed our yard in a day. I have received several positive comments from our neighbors."

"I reached out to Simply Soul Lawn Care on a Thursday to ask about picking up sticks (and there were a lot with the weather weâ ve had the last month!) and mowing our 1.7 acre yard. Stephen responded quickly, was able to go to my house and give me a very reasonable quote the same day and added us to his schedule that Saturday. He did a fantastic job - our yard looks great! I would recommend him to anyone!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

You should use mulch because it protects garden soil in a few key ways. This extra layer between the ground and the elements protects against erosion, helps your soil maintain moisture, regulates changes in temperature, adds nutrients as it decomposes, and keeps weeds at bay.

Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

Yes, backyard landscaping and total-home landscaping add value to your home. According to the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), high-quality landscape design has a 20 to 30 percent return on investment. So, when it comes time to sell your home, having a beautiful backyard landscaping oasis will increase your home’s value.

The best time to plant is between spring and autumn. Springtime weather is typically mild and is when nurseries start to bloom. When the summer weather arrives and it’s hot out, it’s best to avoid planting bare-root plants, but you can still plant many in-container varieties. The first sign of fall is another great opportunity to plant biennials if you live in southern states, or a lovely vegetable garden up north.
