"They did a wonderful job.  I have had them do work for me before and they make sure to do the job right.  They asked me if I wanted them to put the flooring underneath the vanity or just go around.  I told them to go around because it's a small space and I wasn't concerned with whether there would be flooring beneath or not.  They suggested they remove the vanity and put the flooring underneath because it would be quicker (less to cut) and it would look better overall.  Also, the flooring I had originally picked out (vinyl tiles) was not the best choice for my subfloor and situation and suggested I would be be better with solid sheet vinyl.  I went and bought different (while they were removing/repairing the toilet) and it worked out better than what I originally bought and less expensive!  They were right and I now have a half bath that I can finally use and it looks great!  Very professional.  Would definitely hire again.

"They were professional and quick. It was a bit pricey in my opinion but most plumbing usually is. We had a clogged drain and they did a mechanical snake from the roof down the vent pipe for $450. They also threw in a 30 day warranty in case the snake didn't fully clear the block, which is reassuring. However, they were confident that the block was resolved. Toilets and shower are draining so it's looking like it worked. Would hire again."

"I will definitely be using this company again and I highly recommend them to anyone needing any plumbing work. Every single person I've talked to at this company has been professional, courteous, and very helpful. Both the quality of work and the price were outstanding. They were actually a little early for their appointment (how often can you say that about a service provider?), they completed the job quickly, and cleaned everything up when they were done. Soon after they left, I realized I had some questions about the shut-off valve at the toilet that I'd forgotten to ask, and the installers took the time to return to my home and answer all of my questions completely. I liked that I was able to purchase the exact toilet and faucet I wanted ahead of time and they were happy to install both without pressuring me to purchase anything from them (I've had issues with other service providers in the past "recommending" their own products and charging me more to install items that I supplied myself. Not the situation with this company, they were happy to install the items I purchased and didn't charge me any extra for it). Start to finish, it was a superior experience."

"We worked with Chris Sanchez from SouthTowne Plumbing, a division of universal heating and cooling. Chris was a professional and knew his stuff. Didn’t try to upsell us on things we didn’t need. The day of the install of toilet and water heater he was quick and efficient."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up.

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.

Silicone-based caulk is known for its waterproofing qualities, so it’s the best option for any bathroom area. While it’s often more expensive, it will provide a better, longer-lasting seal than acrylic or latex caulk. Use it along the base of the toilet to prevent leaks and keep the area clean and protected.

The biggest sign that your flange leaks is if you notice water at the base of the toilet. The cause is likely due to a poor flange installation, so you might have issues with loose bolts, an uneven flange, or a cracked plastic flange. Add a deteriorating wax seal to this, and you have a recipe for disaster. The best solution is to shut off the water valve, replace the toilet flange, and seal it with a new wax ring.

No, the pink ring in your toilet bowl isn’t a hard water stain but a type of bacteria called Serratia marcescens. This bacteria can also cause pinkish stains in other areas of your bathroom, like around your tub, shower curtains, and faucets. Thankfully, it’s considered to be harmless. However, if you or anyone in your household is immunocompromised, it can cause issues like urinary tract infections. You can clean the pink ring with bleach and a plastic brush. Wear gloves and goggles when using bleach, and always work in a well-ventilated room.

Putting caulk around a toilet’s base where it touches the flooring can help hold the toilet in place. A more effective way is using caulk with plastic shim wedges. Place the shims underneath the base to steady and stabilize the toilet. Add some caulk to help keep the shims in place and provide a stronger and more lasting stabilization effect.
