"Dave came out to do an estimate at the time scheduled.. He climbed up on the roof and said I needed some nails caulked where water was seeping through in the rain. Since it was a small repair he did the work while on site. He also told me I should contact someone to look at masonry on my fireplace and I appreciate that info since I can't see upcoming maintenance issues on my roof."

"In preparation to sell my mother's home located in Phillipsburg, Ohio, I contacted Stickler Home Improvement of Union, Ohio, located near Phillipsburg.   I needed to sell the home as soon as possible as my mother is now living in a skilled care facility.   Jeff Stickler of Stickler Home Improvement was very easy to work with. He was considerate, well spoken and very accommodative.   The entire house was remodeled and updated inside and out. The following is a list of work that was completed by Stickler Home Improvement:       Replace roof and gutters damaged by wind and covered by insurance*     Installed patio cover damaged by wind and covered by insurance*     Replaced and installed all windows and outside doors     Painted all interior walls and ceilings     Removed wall paneling from dining room and patched plaster before applying new paint     Replaced all electrical outlets and switches     Replaced all ceiling light fixtures     Removed old carpet and installed new carpet throughout the main part of the house     Installed laminate flooring in kitchen and dining room     Installed tile floors in two bathrooms     Installed two new toilets     Installed two pedestal sinks in bathrooms     Refinished stove top and oven by re-glazing     Re-glazed bathtub     Replaced doorbell     Painted and set interior doors, door casing and baseboards     Installed wainscotting and chair railing in kitchen     Removed overgrown shrubbery and re-landscaped the front of the house     Painted and repaired chain link fence   Stickler Home Improvement did a wonderful job on this whole-house remodel job. The company cleaned up after themselves and discarded the construction trash.   I would recommend this company to anyone. They were wonderful. The best thing about it was . . . the house sold in only three months!   I was very satisfied with them and would use them again should the need arise."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

Coffered ceilings often come with additional embellishments and accessories, including tin panels, medallions, trim, molding, recessed lights, and finials. Whether you’re looking for a simple grid pattern or want an elaborate, decorative ceiling with all the bells and whistles, there are plenty of options to choose from.

The more surface area that a ceiling fan blade has, the more effective it will be at producing airflow. Therefore, a longer ceiling fan blade is the better option if you’re looking for more wind. However, a longer blade will consume more energy than a shorter blade.

Whether you can install a ceiling fan yourself depends on if you're replacing an existing fixture or installing one where no wiring exists. If you are replacing an existing fan, an experienced DIYer may be able to do the job, which can save on labor costs. This work typically doesn’t require a permit, but there’s always a safety risk when dealing with electrical components, so hiring a pro is still a good idea, especially if you aren't handy. Keep in mind you may need a special ladder for high or vaulted ceilings. However, if you are installing a new ceiling fan where there is no current fixture, you must hire a licensed electrician. In most areas, it is required by law that a professional runs new wiring and pulls the necessary permits. Attempting to install wiring yourself can be dangerous and a code violation.

Most ceiling fans have a lifespan of anywhere from five to 15 years or 10 years on average. Just how long your ceiling fan lasts depends on the quality of the parts, how much it’s used, and how well you maintain it. A fan with a weak motor that runs on the medium setting nonstop is likely to have a shorter lifespan compared to a fan with a powerful motor that runs on the slowest setting for air circulation.
