"The windows, Vytex Potomac, are excellent and the crew installed 10 windows in one day. My wife and I couldn’t be happier. I would like to put a special shout-out to the crew. They worked well together and looked like they enjoyed their craft. They were also very kind and went above and beyond just installing my windows. One of the crew members even readjusted my screen door. It used to shut hard but works perfectly now. My wife told him doors were not part of the job and he said that he just wanted to do it. The professionalism, attention to detail, cleanliness and topped off by kindness…. A home owner would be hard pressed to find a better outfit to get windows from. Thanks for the great windows and the great experience. Sincerely, Joe Stokes."
When windows are 10 feet tall, then a motorized lift is quite handy to assist with the installation.
In the winter months, it is always a good idea to bring extra lighting because the the sun sets so early and we must stay to complete the installation.

Customers say: Quick response

"Josh replaced a side entry door to my garage which had rotted. It required him to remove the old door and frame and replace it with a new one. Since my house had settled from the original build (14 yrs ago), modification was necessary. Josh took his time, was fully prepared, and I have to admit, it's the best working door at my house! Very professional and pleasant, hiring Josh is a no brainer!"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

To ensure the longevity and smooth functioning of new windows, regular maintenance is essential. This includes cleaning the glass and frames, inspecting seals for leaks or damage, and reapplying caulking as needed. It is also important to lubricate all moving parts and operating mechanisms to ensure they continue to operate smoothly.

Installing a basement window generally takes a few hours, assuming there are no structural issues you need to resolve first. If you’re a novice DIYer, the project could take longer; on the flip side, a licensed and trained window contractor may be able to replace multiple basement windows in the time it takes a homeowner to replace one.

It is generally recommended to remove window screens for the winter, especially in climates with heavy snow, freezing rain, or frigid temperatures. Removing them helps prevent damage to the screen mesh and frames that can be caused by ice and moisture buildup between the screen and the window. Taking out the screens also allows more natural light and warmth into your home during shorter winter days and makes it easier to clean your windows thoroughly. In warmer climates where harsh weather is not a concern, the decision is more about personal preference; some homeowners prefer the clearer view, while others leave them in for convenience.

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.

Adding a window to a brick house costs $3,100 to $10,575. Because you’ll need to make changes to the structure of the home, the cost will include obtaining permits and hiring the best pros for this complex job. Larger windows will cost more to install, and the cost can vary based on the window frame material you choose.
