Family owned and operated for 45 years. We have 24 full time employees. We are licensed in Ohio and Kentucky with no got too big or too small. We do use subcontractors with help for welding, excavating, or sawcutting. Mention Angie's list and receive a 10% discount off your first service call with us. For pricing information, please call.

"Went very well. The plumber, Mike, was one we used before. The job cost $170. That's reasonable for $100 labor and less than 2 hours to complete. We called them after another company quoted anywhere from $500 to $750 by trying to sell us an annual service contract (billed monthly of course) and a faucet we didn't need. (I had already purchased the faucet we wanted). We will stick with Holthaus from now on."

"We were having problems with what turned out to be a broken sewer line, causing intermittent backups and flooding during heavy rain. Two other plumbers managed to get the drain flowing again but neither gave us a definite diagnosis without a contract to dig. Nieman quickly diagnosed the problem, gave the best price by far, and initially tried a trenchless repair. That proved to be unfeasible, and the job was re-spec’d for excavation. The guys did a careful and highly efficient excavation, replaced the broken saddle tee, and brought in gravel to stabilize the backfill. Two weeks later they returned and removed the spoils. I’m very happy with the results, and that Neman honored their price estimate even with the added excavation work. My only complaint was getting the work scheduled, which took more calling (about 6 calls from me vs. two return calls) than I thought should be necessary. Otherwise everyone involved was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and admirably professional."

Formerly known as Thompson Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. Established in 1932, HELP offers new installations, regular system maintenance and emergency repair for all types of plumbing problems, and all makes and models of heating and air conditioning systems in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

"I signed up for HELP's annual service. On their first visit to inspect and cleaning my HVAC, the servicer spent a little time, then walked outside and was magically joined by his district manager. They then proceeded to try to hard sell me $3500 in new equipment. I later had a friend who runs another company look at our system. He reported that the HELP guy did nothing! No cleaning, not servicing. It was all a scam to sell me equipment I did not need. I immediately cancelled their service and refused to pay a dime further."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.

It’s generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. In most cases, the level of sewer gas you’re exposed to in a home will be low enough to only cause minor symptoms, though high levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous. If you’re smelling sewer gas in your home, it’s important to locate, assess, and fix the problem, because it won’t go away on its own.

Grease buildup, tree roots, and foreign objects often cause blockages. Regular maintenance prevents major issues.

The cost to unclog a sewer line is between $200 and $600, with the average homeowner spending around $380, depending on the severity of the clog. It can cost as little as $100 to snake a small clog, but you could spend up to $1,600 if you need to video inspect the line and hydrojet a large clog.
