The work was quoted and a time scheduled. The plumber was on time, did the work exactly as proposed, and cleaned up everything after completing the work.

They got the job done, but the overall quality of the people wasn't as professional. They weren't as neat and they didn't clean up quite as well, a rougher type of service provider. Their personnel could have been cleaner and sharper. I would have preferred somewhat more experienced people. You never knew who you were going to get from Dick Scott, sometimes they were pretty good, sometimes they weren't so good. They were unpredictable. I had some problems with responsiveness. They said they were going to come and they didn't. I stayed home all day and they didn't show up. The professionalism varied.

I use them for certain things. I would not have given Dick Scott an 'A' prior to the merger. But with the merger, it's new management, new personnel and it's an upgrade from what it was. This was a special offer that they had. They were willing to work with me and explain what their new business was like and how they were going to run it. They were encouraging me to use them, obviously. They offered a number of different potential solutions for a couple of problems that I have. They were clean and professional. I don't know enough about the business, they may have been able to do things that other people do that I don't know about, but I was satisfied. They came on time and they cleaned up. They tried to do a TV scope of the sewer line. There was a problem with that, it wasn't their problem. Overall, they were going the extra mile for me. This was a special in order for them to introduce themselves to previous customers. So, I think the price was good. The next time they do it, it's going to be more expensive though. I've got some other plumbing issues, I have to have a hot water heater put it and some valves changed and I may give them an opportunity to do that.

In general it went fairly well, he took out the laundry room twin sink--concrete tub and all though it was to be removed, it still sits in the basement 6 month's later.

I had sewer back up, and I called different people to give me an estimate, so I could know which one would give me a better deal and that I could go with them. I talked to him over the phone. When he came, he was really nice. He looked at it because somebody did the camera thing to see what the damage was all about. He said they were supposed to do this and that. He gave me advice on what to do and call him back. He did not even charge me. So, when the people from MSD, the Metropolitan Sewer District, came to look at it and fixed their part because the sewer was blocked with roots, he also came and saw it. I wanted him to do the rest of it because they only did what they were responsible for and now, they were supposed to do to the house. He said that I probably do not need it, but he needed to do something. He came with his camera and see if he could snake it. He also gave me a quote for the replacement of the pipes, but it was a little bit higher than the others. Of course this is money, so, I had to go with the person with the lowest bid. He was really helpful. I only paid him for what he charged me for the snaking where he spent an hour or so here. He did not charge me for his previous visits. I really appreciated that.

Very responsive.  My problem occurred on a Sunday night.  I called first thing Monday morning, and plumber was sent out by 10:30am.  The sewage had receded but the drain was very slow.  We have a huge maple tree in the yard and clay pipes.  The plumber Keith moved furniture to get to the clean out in the basement.  He  brought his equiptment in through my front door, and proceded to work on the pipes.  He did not protect his shoes, and therefore tracked the contents of the sewer pipe through my house as he went up and down the stairs.  There was splatter that ended up on the staircase, and black smears on my hallway floor.   He augered about 60 ft out  saying there was an obstruction about 50 ft out.  However he  only produced a few small roots however said the pipes were now cleared.   the water in the basement drain didn't go all the way down, and wen questioned about this, we were informed that this was normal.  he did a water test, walking up to my second floor in his work shoes which probably had  sewer ecoli on them.  I asked plumber to please check the basement floor drain as I could still see water just a few inches below the grate even though  he said the pipes were cleared.  He used a hose  to pour water in that drain, and declared it clean and that the level was normal.
Upon packing up, he started to push back the furniture, however I stopped him as the walls and floors were still covered in sewer film - not disinfected at al.  Our stairs had brown spots on our brown carpet from the sewer clean-out.   I was charge $240.
the next day I hired a contractor friend to dig up the yard and replace the clay pipes.  We discovered at 35 ft and 50 ft out (previoulsy augered by DSP).  At 35 ft a huge 8" round  by 15" long root plug was discovered.  It had a small hole drilled through it the the previous day's auger attempt.  At 50 ft out, there was another blockage.  I'll attach pictures to show.  I'm glad I went ahead and had the pipes replaced and very disappointed that the plumber I paid $240 to the day lead me to believe I was ok.  I believe the inexperience of this particular plumber was the problem.  The new sewer pipes replaced the clay ones, and the basement sewer drain no longer has standing water in it.   My husband was post-op hip replacement and my attention to the plumber's activities were distracted by my husband's needs and his nurse's visit.  I should have insisted more on seeing evidence that the sewer was cleaned out, and that my house was respected more and the mess contained and cleaned in a proper fashion.  It was an expensive lesson.

They were very prompt and very friendly. They were not pushy. They didn’t try to sell us something which was really good. They were very honest. They told us as it was. They were comparable with others on price. We would use them again.

The only problem I had was from the owner who spoke to and requested and estimate on the work. He did not call back to schedule the estimate when he said he would and I had to call back again. When the extimate was schdueled the first time he did not show up. The owner scheduled another estimate and one of his workers showed up and perform the estimate. The person doing the estimate took detailed information, took pictures and asked me many questions to understand the work that was needed. I was told an estimate for the work would be sent within a day or say. After 10 days I had to call back and spoke to the office manager and explained that I had not received the estimate and she told me she was very sorry that she had been out of the office and the owner was doing the work himself. I was given an estimate over the phone which I agreed to and was told a written version would be delivered the day the work was to be done becuase it was scheduled 2 days after the phone call. The office person was very nice and handled things very wellThe men that performed the work did a great job and were very nice, the office person I spoke to did exactly waht she said she would do and was also very nice. I am not to sure about the owner, maybe he was over worked trying to do paper work and running the business at the same time.

It was a major work and they did a good job.  I liked working with Dick and he came out personally.  He is an excellent person.  He responded right away which I was impressed with.  They did quick work and got away.

Mark and John came to replace an aged water heater. Although my previous water heater was working still, I felt that I wanted to rid myself of the 20yr old heater anyway. They arrived the next day after I recieved my quote for services on time, were friendly, worked diligently to perform the task in a timely manner. Overall I would say it was maybe an hour that they were here.

On 8/14/06 Mr. Scott said he would dig a hole where the the line entered the house and another hole at the meter and pull a new copper line through the old line and replace the old line. After digging the two holes I was told the equipment to pull the line through would not work and the entire line would need to be dug up (about 40 feet). The work to repair the line was completed fine, and the dirt was back filled. The back fill job was very rough and I was told they would come back once the dirt settled. They did come back and improved the situation, but the yard was still a mess and very difficult to walk on. We lost a shrub and two trees look like they won't make it. This spring I called Mr. Scott twice asking if he could help at least improve the grade. He did not return my call and I have started trying to smooth out the area as best I can.

ALL WORK WAS PERFORMED IN A TIMELY AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER. THIS WAS MY SECOND USAGE OF THIS COMPANY, AND IN BOTH CASES THE STAFF OF THIS COMPANY WERE ON TIME, HARD WORKING, FULLY CAPABLE, AND LEFT THE JOB SITE CLEANED UP. THE OFFICE STAFF WERE COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL, AND SCHEDULING OF WORK WAS STRAIGHTFORWARD AND DIRECT. THIS COMPANY IS MY FIRST CHOICE FOR PLUMBING SERVICES.
