"The replacement of our 15 year old HVAC system went well. Pricing was competitive with others and customer service was great. There were a couple of issues we brought up regarding the installation and Elliot addressed them immediately. We are very pleased with the system installed, and will use Cincinnati Heating and Air Conditioning for service and other needs. Elliot is very honest and all involved were very courteous, especially regarding COVID 19 precautions and concerns."

"I couldn't be any more pleased with the absolutely great job Hi Tech Duct Cleaning did. When I called to inquire, Aaron did a very thorough job explaining what they would do. He also asked how many registers and returns I have so he was able to give me an exact estimate that held true to what the final cost was. The technicians on the job were Caleb, Jason, and Will. They were very conscientious and professional. There is no way any other duct company could do a finer job. If you're thinking about having your ducts cleaned, don't wait. You'll be glad you did. It is worth it knowing that you're breathing cleaner, healthier air!"

"The biggest obstacle was scheduling.  The Angie's List confirmation email did not include the instruction to schedule on the Flow-Rite web site.  It took 3 or 4 emails to clarify that which delayed getting the work scheduled.
The replacement parts worked fine with the exception of some excess plastic on the valve which prevented a tight seal and thus lead to a running toilet.  It took a few minutes with the razor blade to cut the excess off and allowed the seal to form properly.  This probably should have been done by the installer.

"First, let me just say that Hauser's after-sale support is absolutely excellent. They were responsive and eager to help correct any problems we encountered. The problem is not so much with Hauser Air's current staff but the salesman (Jim) who sold us the system and design. When we purchased our house, we knew the system was rather old. After one hot summer and one cold winter, we decided that we needed to completely upgrade it as the interior temperature fluctuation was unacceptable. We got bids from five different contractors for Trane and American Standard systems (both are basically the same products with different brands). Jim came in to our home and sounded very confident in the system that he wanted to sell to us, pointing to his decades of experiences dealing with houses in Southwest Ohio. The technicians sent to us by Hauser were all excellent. They were respectful and diligent in their working. They also did a great job cleaning up any debris. There were some glitches in the installation process that they handled well. However, after the installation, it became apparent that the system wasn't performing up to what Jim assured us. First, while temperature fluctuation inside the house became less, it was nowhere near what Jim had told us. Secondly, we revisited what Jim had told us on the day of his visit and what was actually installed and found a couple of discrepancies. He told us that we would get a second touchscreen thermostat control on the second floor but it was instead simply a temperature sensor. He also initially told us that the package included an Aprilaire humidifier with accurate humidity controls but instead we received an American Standard humidifier that is far less capable. Meanwhile, the zoning system also didn't initially function as intended and repeatedly caused the system to shut down due to air flow issues. Finally, Jim also mischaracterized the zoning system to us. On his sales visit, he told us that he'd zone the downstairs and upstairs when in fact the actual zoning system was more along the lines of downstairs vents being split 40/60, with the 40% downstairs vents grouped along with all supply vents upstairs. Lastly, the humidifier did not have a drain hose installed, splashing water all over my basement floor for several days before the technicians came out to fix it. With all that went wrong, why am I still willing to hire Hauser again in the future? Because their technicians are so nice and responsive. And the system, while nowhere near what Jim had promised us, is still much improved from the 21 year old Carrier system that it replaced. I've also heard some very good things about Hauser's owner, Roy, and his technicians made it clear to me that Roy treats his workers very well and is passionate about his business, and I really respect that. Despite Jim's over-promise and under-delivery, I'm willing to give Hauser the benefit of doubt on this very expensive and disappointing purchase. In hindsight, it's rather clear to me that Jim simply didn't understand the system that he was selling. In fact, on subsequent visits by Hauser's excellent technicians to fix the numerous mistakes made due to Jim's initial design, it became abundantly obvious that Jim simply didn't possess the technical knowledge of how this particular zoning system works before committing to a system. Although the technicians suggested some potential improvement to the design that should improve the overall comfort of the zoning system, it would also cost us even more than the $13,000+ we already sunk into everything. Quite frankly, the overall experience was sorely disappointing. Apparently, Jim no longer works for Hauser. I have no idea whether this is due to customer complaints or whatever. I just wish that I had gone with Thomas Watkins initially, since their salesperson's suggested system design is identical to what Hauser technicians later proposed. It could've spared me a whole lot of headache and hassle over the past year. The simple version of my review is: Hauser Air should be perfectly fine for most of your needs, but unfortunately my experience with them was through a salesperson who didn't understand the expensive products he was selling and over-promised/under-delivered during his brief tenure with Hauser. However, I would like to emphasize that Hauser's technicians and staff are exceptional and among the best I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with."

"I was advised by another HVAC service company that I needed to replace the condenser motor and fan on our cooling system. I was provided an estimate in excess of $1,000. So, I opted for a second opinion. I contacted Kirk Wiesman at New Climate. Kirk evaluated the unit that same day and stated that it is difficult to predict when the motor may fail. With young children in my home, I prefer to error on the side of caution and wanted the motor replaced if I could afford to do so. Kirk stated that the fan was fine and did not need to be replaced. As promised, Kirk provided later that same day an estimate to replace the motor ($393). We agreed upon a date and time for the work to be completed. Kirk showed up on time and installed a direct replacement (original equipment) motor.  Kirk explained the charges, which matched the estimate.  Kirk also explained the warranty on this work."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The average lifespan of a boiler is typically between 15 and 20 years, though some may last for as little as 10 years while others can reach 30. A boiler's longevity is influenced by several factors, including the quality of the unit, proper installation, and consistent professional maintenance.

The material also plays a significant role. Older boilers made from durable cast iron can last for over 20 years, with some functioning for up to 50 years. However, it's important to consider their lower efficiency, which can lead to higher utility bills. Modern boilers, often made from steel alloys, are designed to withstand high pressure and temperatures and have an average lifespan of about 20 years.

To maximize your boiler's lifespan, ensure it is installed correctly, have it professionally maintained each year, and address any necessary repairs immediately.

The cost-efficiency of baseboard heaters depends on the type and how you use them. Generally, standard electric baseboard heaters can be expensive to run because they use electric resistance heating, which is less energy-efficient than systems like forced-air or heat pumps. However, hydronic and gas versions are typically much cheaper to operate. Hydronic models are more energy-efficient because they heat a liquid that retains warmth longer, preventing the thermostat from turning on and off as often. The overall running cost is also influenced by local electricity rates, your home's insulation, and your usage habits. To increase efficiency, you can use baseboard heaters for zoning, meaning you only heat the specific rooms you are using.

If you want a new boiler that’s going to help lower your fuel bills, you should buy one that has a high energy-efficiency rating. For example, a boiler that is rated “A” uses at least 90% of the energy created by the boiler. And in order to enjoy the best performance, it’s important to have it installed properly by a highly-rated tech.

One of the easiest ways to determine which type of furnace will work best for your home is to contact a professional in your area. Many HVAC companies offer free consultations to help potential customers determine if they need a new system and which type would work best for their home and the community’s climate.

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.
