Everything went well.  I called on New Year's Eve late in the afternoon because the drain was leaking from one of the bathrooms.  The phone was answered immediately and I liked not having to leave a message.    I was told that if I needed someone the same day, it would be after 4 pm and the cost would be $240.  If I could wait until Jan 2nd, it would be the first stop and cost $140.  I chose to wait until today.

The 2 men arrived only a little later than I was told and without the call ahead promised me by the woman in the office. That was not a problem for me.  They were very polite and explained everything they would have to do.  They cleaned the drain (a very old cast iron pipe), replaced the cover  with an expandable one that sealed the old opening,  tested it several times to make sure everything drained into the septic, cleaned up and were finished in less than an hour. The cause was explained to me and it was suggested we not throw baby wipes in the toilet even though the carton says they are safe for septic systems.  They are obviously not good in old, rusty sewer pipes.  

I expected the $140 would cover only the service call and probably would be some other charge for the new part they installed but the total cost was $140.

I am totally satisfied and grateful it was fixed quickly.

Satisfied with the ball park estimate, I called and scheduled an appointment within the next week. Two individuals arrived at the expected time and we went over what I was hoping to have done. They even agreed to install an additional valve, since I had the parts and the installation would be very quick. They also threw in a 30 day warranty in case the snake didn't fully clear the block, which is reassuring. However, they were confident that the block was resolved.
