"We've got an early 80's Zicka 4 BR house. Turns out the foundation drainage wasn't done properly when the house was built...our sump pump only drained ~1/4 of the basement because water doesn't flow uphill. Everdry jack-hammered the inside perimeter of the basement, replaced the drain system, installed a Cadillac-grade sump pump, trenched around the outside of the foundation, installed plastic sheeting & french drains. I've never seen a crew work like them. Wasn't cheap, but the job definitely wasn't easy. I hope Ian the crewleader runs for president."

"Had a crack in foundation wall that was leaking. Called for estimate. Was scheduled in the evening to accommodate my work schedule. They called that evening to confirm and to let me know the exact time. Easy estimate that was very reasonable. Scheduled at my convenience and they arrived when scheduled. Lonnie was gracious and respectful and completed the work as originally quoted. Area was very clean and he explained every part of the process. I am soo happy When a contractor does what they say they will do, when they say they will do it. Couldn't ask for better."

"The company was great they were able to get a lot of recovery on my foundation for my garage that has been sliding down a hill for years. They used the helical pier method which raised and supported the foundation. Really impressed with the experience it came out great."

"Iran H, Chris M and Floyd C were the service people from Ohio Basement Authority who repaired a leaning concrete block foundation wall in the basement and installed a sump pump. They did excellent, considerate work and I would recommend them for a similar project."

"Terrific experience with the company from start to finish. The salesman was prompt and knowledgeable. We got 3 bids for the project, and Logan was the lowest with the best products. It was a no-brainer. Schedule was timely. Installers were terrific - on time, courteous, professional and thorough. Install took 2 days and they left the area cleaner than they found it. Both the salesperson and the install crew answered all our questions and worked with us for a fairly painless process. Very happy camper."
Logan A/C & Heat Services offered value, competitive pricing, top of the line Trane equipment, nice financing options that other companies did not offer. Dan was my sales rep that offered the above services. Bobby was the installer & was professional & did a great job. Install was scheduled on a Monday after I committed on a Friday; so very quick! "Chris & CJ from Stay Dry repaired a leak in our exterior gutter drain system that was originally installed by Stay Dry in 2021. They arrived on time and efficiently & neatly (had to dig to uncover about 12 ft of pipe) repaired the underground leak start to finish in about one hour, being careful not to damage nearby plants & flowers. This 5 star review is for Chris' & CJ's performance only. Cost is unknown as our condo assn would handle costs, if any. Should be zero as this should be warranty work."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

A sump pump can be added to an existing basement. To do this, you will need to use a jackhammer or sledgehammer to break up the concrete and dig a pit. You will also need to create a hole in your basement wall to run the discharge pipe through.

The best basement waterproofing method depends on the specific issue causing the water intrusion. For minor problems, simple solutions like installing a properly functioning gutter system to direct runoff away and grading the soil to slope away from your foundation can be effective.

If you have more significant water problems, the solution will need to be more robust:

  • For standing water on the basement floor, a floor drain or a sump pump system may be the best solution.

  • For water pooling around the foundation, installing an exterior French drain can intercept water before it reaches the basement walls.

Other effective waterproofing methods, which can be used depending on your home's specific needs, climate, and soil type, include sealing the interior walls, landscape alteration, installing interior drainage systems, and using a dehumidification system to control moisture levels.

Installing a sump pump takes a bit of know-how, but it is possible to do it yourself. You’ll need to familiarize yourself with details like where sump pump water goes to avoid creating new flooding risks. If you’re doing the work yourself, it’s recommended to bring in a pro for a quick inspection afterward so you can be sure your home is protected from any water damage concerns.

The regulations around whether drain pipe installers need to hold licenses or certifications differ based on where you live and the type of drain pipe installed. Municipalities have varying rules and regulations about who can and can’t perform plumbing work. However, we recommend hiring a certified plumber to install or modify your drain lines. Licensed plumbers will perform a high-quality, professional installation, which translates to a lower risk of clogs and leaks in the future. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to confirm the license status of your potential plumber before hiring them to install your drain pipe.

You can DIY basement waterproofing in some ways to help save on the overall costs. If your basement isn’t experiencing a lot of water but is noticeably humid, you can try running a dehumidifier that will pull the excess water out of the air. If you notice water leaking due to outdoor drainage issues, you can add downspout extensions to keep rainwater away from your home.

However, if the problem is more severe and requires a more extensive solution, it’s best to call a basement waterproofing professional to assess the treatment you need and install waterproofing safeguards properly. Since keeping water out of your basement is important, ensuring this job is done correctly the first time is best.
