"The owner of the company did my estimate, and was wonderful in explaining things, and at no point did I feel I was being up sold or steered in any direction. The two installers were pleasant, quiet, worked clean and quickly. They left the house as clean as it had been when they arrived, and I am already appreciating a change in the air temperature in my upstairs. I would completely recommend Superior Insulation."

"I have not had the work done yet but am so pleased with the sales person, James East whose efficiency, courtesy and enthusiastic attitude are to be commended. His conscientious attention to providing cover on my roof until It can be done, relieves my anxiety about more water damage. I will be happy to provide another survey when the job is done. Thanks and gratitude to Angi for the wonderful service you provide. Bernadine Turchetti"

"This company was very professional and very accommodating to mine and my wifes schedule. Work was done in a timely manner. The repaired drywall and primed it. The also installed moldings and baseboards. All this was done in my basement bathroom after a sewer back up that caused the need for this repair. They were helpful in this stressful situation by providing their excellent customer service and very reasonable price for all the work they did. I got a few estimates and they were the best for the work the did. I was looking for a contractor to drywall, paint and carpentry. I would highly recommend them and use them again for sure. Thank you Rochester Remodeling Pro!"

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

It’s always better to follow proven drywall repair tips and fix the seams that look bad. However, if you simply want to make them less noticeable until you have time to fix them, you can use paint. A darker color of paint makes bad drywall tape seams less noticeable than light-colored paint. Matte paint hides bad seams better than glossy paint does, too.

A common cause of separation between a wall and the ceiling is truss lift—this can happen to the ceiling of rooms directly under the attic when the seasons change and wood building materials dry out, shrink, and shift. Roof trusses often dry out at different speeds, and if the bottom pieces dry out faster than the top pieces, they can shrink and pull the attached drywall away from ceilings and walls, causing cracks. Fortunately, truss lift is only a cosmetic problem, not a structural problem, and you can fix it by separating the ceiling drywall from the roof trusses, and patching the cracks.

If you plan on heating your garage, you must install a vapor barrier when drywalling the garage. A vapor barrier protects your garage from frost and mold that can occur through condensation. If your garage is unheated, you don't need to install a vapor barrier. The only exception is if you regularly crank the heat in your car before getting in it. In this case, you may still want to install a vapor barrier, as your car can heat your garage.

Beadboard is a decorative element and lacks the structural integrity of drywall. It cannot hold much weight and is not meant to be used as an insulator or moisture barrier, like drywall is. In almost all cases, beadboard is placed over an existing wall surface which, in modern days, is usually drywall, but decades ago could have been wood paneling.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.
