"I recently discovered yellow jackets inside my hose and found Exterminex Pest Control in my research of companies. There are several ways to dry out flea eggs. Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a natural ingredient that can dry out fleas, but it’s messy to apply and can also cause respiratory issues for members of your household if inhaled. Salt is safer and easier to apply, so shake it liberally over affected areas. Boric acid is another way to get rid of fleas and other insects, but this, too, can cause respiratory issues and health problems if inhaled or ingested.

It’s not fast, but you can tightly seal items and store them away for at least a few months, preferably an entire year. Bed bugs can’t survive that long without eating. However, this method takes significantly longer than other common eradication methods like heat treatments, steaming, or fumigation, so it’s not a first choice for homeowners.

While keeping any critter away permanently isn’t always possible, you can keep mice away from your home by setting traps, fumigating your space, and sealing known entry points. Once you’ve taken these steps, take time to work on prevention measures, such as clearing out all clutter and recyclables and removing all food sources.

You can get rid of fleas by taking several steps as quickly as possible. First, consult your pet’s vet to determine the best flea shampoo or medicine to apply to their coat. In conjunction with treating your furry friend, treat your house by washing all linens, including pet bedding, in warm to hot water with detergent. You should also use a strong vacuum on all floor surfaces, spread diatomaceous earth in flea-prone areas, and consider using commercial baits, traps, and powders.

Once the animals and their young are out of the house, remove the nest and locate any entry points. Some may be difficult to find because some animals can fit through very small holes. Once you’ve located as many entry points as possible, use materials such as metal or masonry to block off the entry. Ideally, you should choose materials that most animals cannot chew through. Create a one-way door or flap to allow animals to leave but not return. Additional methods include using repellants designed to make an area unappealing to the types of animals that find your home so inviting.
