"They did a great job and communicated everything they were doing to keep us in the know when they first came to do our insulation. Very nice people! As with old houses, there was no air duct where they went to blow insulation in the walls so they accidentally blew insulation in our bedroom thru the vent. They cleaned it up all nice and neat, but when we found out months later after turning the heat back on, the vent wasn't blowing heat, they came right out and took care of the blockage for us. Would definitely recommend them!"

"Mark was very professional and gave a complete explanation of the estimate and work involved. while only one man showed up on the date scheduled for insulation, he completed the exterior walls foam insulation work including the interior basement rim in the day as promised and was very courteous and thorough. Polyisocyanurate foam, or polyiso for short, has the highest R-value per square inch: 6.5 to 6.8. Polyiso is a rigid foam that comes with a reflective foil on both sides to serve as a radiant barrier. Given its high R-value, rigid foam is usually meant for foundations and basement walls.

Excluding carpet, strand-woven bamboo provides excellent underfoot heat. Laminate flooring is also good for insulation and preventing cold feet in the winter. Bamboo tends to work better in climates that have more consistent temperatures, while laminate does a better job at insulating floors in homes that experience more extreme temperature changes, such as the deciduous climates of the northeastern U.S.

It’s technically possible to install loose-fill cellulose insulation without a blower, but it’s much more time-consuming, tedious, and dangerous. You’ll need to wear the proper protective coverings to handle the cellulose after it’s been doused in boric acid; use a shovel when you can to transport the material from the bag into the wall cavity.

That said, if you purchase cellulose materials at a home improvement store, ask if they rent out blowers for free or at a discounted rate. In many cases, if you buy the material from the store, they’ll rent out the blower at no extra cost.
