"Excellent . The Estimator showed up 2 minutes before the appointed time & after a quick 20-minute survey of the exterior of the house, was able to give me a written estimate. The rest of the job was conducted in similar fashion. The installation crew showed up on time, were competant & courteous & completed job on time. When completed, I was asked to walk the job to make sure the cleanup was acceptable. Not enough "cold" time has gone by for me to comment on the reduction in heating costs but as for the work, this outfit gets my unqualified recommendation."

"Hired him Install or Replace Door Trim Comment: Diego relocated the attic access in our home from an 18" square hole inside a closet to a code-compliant ceiling ladder unit. He worked very hard to move it to a location I wanted, but after determining my location was not possible he took great care to make sure that it was installed cleanly and attractively in the bedroom. He did the work as quoted, in the timeline he expected, and ran a very clean and efficient worksite. Very happy with the results. Than hired him again to Build a New Closet Comment: Diego arrived when he stated, completed the work exactly as he quoted, kept a clean worksite, and conducted everything very professionally."

"Installed a new damper chain. We thought it was not working, and they paid a return visit. But nothing was actually wrong and they did not charge for the service call. Very friendly and helpful guy both times."

"Stu and his team did an excellent job. They were very professional and quickly, efficiently and cleanly put new blown insulation on the attic floor of my old house. He also explained clearly how the insulation works, the R values and benefits. Thank you Discount Insulation."

Customers say: True professional

"We worked with Ecua on a pretty complicated project for an old poorly maintained house. The project included removing old roofing, fixing rotten framing, and installing new roof / plywood / Gutters. William was very responsive, tried to salvage old material that is in good shape, accommodating for contentious change in scope (chimneys, rotten wood etc), and was happy to come back and do some cosmetic finishing after concluding the project. Finally, he honored his word / prices even after increasing in nation-wide material cost"

"These guys were fantastic. My house was so drafty during the cold months and I just couldn't take it anymore. Matt, Dan and there team came in early in the morning and started working immediately. They even helped me move some of my personal items out of the way. They made several openings along the walls and pumped installation through the opening. They nice and neatly sealed up every hole, cleaned up behind themselves and walked out the door all within 2 hours. I immediately felt the difference in the temperature level in my house. I just called them back to do another room. These guys have 30 years of experience in the business and are excellent at what they do. I highly recommend them."

Eifs Installers questions, answered by experts

Most modern egress windows installed in basements open outward into a window well, although some older homes have in-swing windows. Egress windows, like casement windows used in other parts of the home, such as bedrooms and bathrooms, may open inward, and these windows are often larger than outward-opening windows.

The average cost to install an egress window is approximately $3,900, with a typical range between $2,500 and $5,300, though costs can be higher. The final price is influenced by several factors, including the window's size, type, material, and glass quality. Other variables include labor costs, location, excavation needs, and whether permits or a structural engineer consultation are required. The price of the window itself often depends on the number of panes:

  • Single-pane: $100–$400

  • Double-pane: $200–$500

  • Triple-pane: $300–$800

Additional features like window wells or covers will also increase the total project cost. It is advisable to obtain multiple quotes from professionals to get a comprehensive understanding of the expenses for your specific project.

The cost to install a bow window can range from $1,500 to $15,000, with a national average of $3,900. The total price includes materials, which can cost between $1,200 and over $14,000, and labor, which typically adds $300 to $1,900. Several factors influence the final cost, including the window's size and frame material. For example, vinyl frames are the most budget-friendly option, while wood frames are more expensive. Custom features or energy-efficient upgrades will also increase the price. For comparison, a bay window installation typically costs between $1,000 and $7,000.

Yes, you can always make an existing window bigger, but the job complexity varies widely depending on the location of the window and the framing around it. Exterior walls are always load-bearing, so making windows wider will require structural changes that make for a more complex but doable project. Making windows taller often won’t require structural changes.

A good U-factor for windows is 0.30 or lower, but they can range from 0.20 to 1.20. A general rule of thumb when it comes to the U-factor is that the lower, the better.
